Poll: Latino Voters Have 'Widely Negative' Views Of GOP
WASHINGTON -- A recent poll out of California found an uphill battle for Republicans hoping to make inroads with Latinos, the largest and fastest growing minority in the United States.

The survey, conducted by a GOP pollster and consultant, found that Latino voters hold "widely negative" views about the Republican party. Envisioned as a way to "begin the process of understanding both the challenges as well as the opportunities for future Republican candidates in gaining a greater share of the Latino vote," the poll found Hispanic voters tend to view GOP candidates as overly conservative and distrust Republican views on immigration.

While California is unlikely to play a defining role in the 2012 elections, the poll could have implications for states like Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, where Hispanics have increasing political influence.

Commissioned by Republican strategist Marty Wilson, who managed Carly Fiorina's failed campaign for the California Senate, the survey of 400 California Latino voters found a wide Latino-GOP disconnect in the Golden State. Though they tried to frame it in the best terms possible, Wilson and GOP pollster Bob Moore conceded that there was much "work to be done to convince California Latinos that the Republican Party and its candidates can effectively represent them."

11. This is also a key reason why we must NEVER take this voting bloc for granted!
We have to make damn rock solid CERTAIN that they remain OURS for generations to come. We cannot afford to let the bad guys gain a single foothold!

Hint: they're gonna try to use religion as the crowbar to pry Hispanics away from Dems. And they won't go away quietly and admit defeat. They're not going to give up trying to woo these voters and potential away from us. BET ON IT. We have to stand with the Latino vote. SOLIDLY.

THAT'S WHERE THE NUMBERS ARE.

2. Maybe some more xenophobic, racist legislation will fix that?

5. The GOP can work till hell freezes over, they will never represent the best interests of Latinos
Which is what gives me hope that before I die they will have voted the Republicans into obscurity. Even Marco Rubio, they are too smart to see through his brand of bullshit.

"The Republican embrace of what is perceived by Hispanics as nativism has clearly alienated Latinos,” noted a report from the right-wing American Conservative Institute. “There is also a distinct possibility that emboldened nativist-oriented Republicans (backed largely by their older, Anglo base) could embrace policies, such as abolishing birthright citizenship, that seem almost calculated to alienate Latino and other immigrant voters.”

14. Oh, my goodness
You mean a voting bloc described as, "Family-Oriented," won't automatically jump on board with a much of old, white, racist xenophobes who have done everything they can to marginalize them? Sure seemed like a solid strategy to me.
