There exists in a little known place a book of reasons why prices increase for the masses. |
|
(Stolen from someone whose name I don't have permission to use)
It contains all of the possible reasons for raising prices for things we all use, and includes such things as: 1. Disruption, or threat of disruption, of anything and everything. 2. Bad weather in California. That of course leads to severe shortages of all the stuff they grow. Same with Florida. 3. Global warming. Although it has been shown to be a myth, the mere mention of it causes people to raise prices anyway for being foolish enough to believe in greenhouse gasses as a cause of anything bad. 4. Natural disasters. Look what happened to plasterboard after Katrina. 5. Recalls. They're added to the price of vehicles. 6. Trucker's strikes. Everything that we use comes on trucks. When they strike, we all suffer. 7. Fires. Florida, California, and other states that have them send us their smoke, which makes us cough and sneeze and use more tissues and sick days. 8. Flus and colds. The loss of productivity causes the replacement workers who sub for the sick workers to make terrible business decisions that raise prices. 9. Not shopping at Wal-Mart or Costco. Congress is debating a law now that taxes each of us $1200 per year and gives us Wal-Mart or Costco Dollars to shop with. If we fail to buy American, the money is forfeit. 10. Dwindling fossil fuel supplies. Everything we use is energy related. As the primordial soup that created the fossil fuels gets used up, and we can't find replacements, the cost of everything goes up in anticipation of shortages. You see, a shortage need not really exist to raise prices. The mere threat or suggestion that there MIGHT be a shortage now sends prices into a hysterical upward spiral. It's like Little Albert and the white furry thing. We're surrounded by white furry things that scare the hell out of us and make us happy to get products at ANY price.

7. Costco has been eliminated from the program |
|
due to their pro-union policies and unacceptably humane working conditions.
