3 per for the privilege of them holding your money in a savings account.

This, to punish us for Obama limits on per use fees.

I can only imagine that they have their interlocking directorates on this whole people power thingie.

I am going to move all cash to Teachers credit union. Hope Anonymous takes them down hard. These fees kick in about a month from now.

1. Credit Unions are the only way to go...
I just closed our Chase bank account for the same reason. The Boeing Employee's Credit Union is a great alternative.

2. Payback for Paupers
Can't be poor and a Democrat, these days.

Gotta think of one's image.

As for the banksters, they can't go low enough so that the political class will not help them up.

3. If you don't have good credit, you can't open a checking account at many banks
With so many unemployed, credit scores are falling. Last time I sent out an email alert to my groups suggesting moving to a credit union, several unemployed friends told me that they were refused checking accounts due to low credit scores. I checked with my niece, who is a VP at a local bank, and she said yes, banks (including credit unions) often refuse new checking accounts to those without good credit.

So while I appreciate this idea, we need to be careful and attach this warning when we talk about leaving a bank and moving to a new one.

12. Basically , they are going to charge people for what so many have spoken up for...
both D and R, saving money. It is truly amazing that banks can now charge people for one of the purposes banks exist for, saving money. Everyone, regardless of how much they have invested in a bank doing this, should pay down their cards, cancel them and move their cash into more consumer friendly markets. Bad enough they charge people exorbitant fees for using credit, but to be charged for being prudent is the height of hubris.

13. just wait until all the states have all raced to the bottom
in the contest to see who can give the most tax cuts to corporations for "job growth". I expect a charge to come straight out of our paychecks, or a sales tax, payable straight to the corps, for "job expense."

15. Link? Is this an 'old' debit account ie savings or some checking thing?
Are there ways to get around it like having direct deposit?

17. now I know why I never wanted a debit card
:puke:

Try a credit union yes. I have a few "free" checking accounts with a couple of different ones. One requires that you have a $500.00 a month balance for it to be free, the other one is actually free (being two automatic deposits are going into it), the third one is a 50+ free account at a local bank (!) that I despise, fourth is at Scottrade.

I use one of these accounts and write checks. If people don't like it, well too bad.
