At least they got some target practice.
Instead of invading or enforcing No-Fly-Zones, Europe and the U.S. should just arm the civilian rebels with anti-air and anti-tank weapons.
Let them fight their own revolution.

There is no hiding in the desert for large convoys to provide equipment in all towns.

7. If we figured out a way to arm the Afghanistan mujahadeen against the Soviets... |
|
I'm sure we can figure out a way to smuggle in arms to the Libyan rebels.
Benghazi is a port town, after all.

13. Maybe a few Special Ops guys in advisng roles to help train the rebels in how to use the equipment. |

But no need to full-out invade and occupy.

14. I just heard an AlJ commentator say that it was tough |
|
for the Libyan army to move equipment all the way across the country to Benghazi - even though they had air control up until now. How would rebels do the same?

16. Well, basic anti-tank and anti-air launchers can be carried by infantry and in civilian vehicles. |
|
I'm not suggesting mobile SAM sites or tanks or any other heavy assets or anything. Just arming the PEOPLE with means to protect themselves and slowly fight back and expand their revolution to neighboring cities, all the way until Tripoli falls.

4. What's the cost of this folly to the French? |
|
Does France not have any poor, any citizens who need help more than Sarkozy needs to satisfy his hard-on?

2. They don't have any communication equipment. |

They have very little equipment - that is why they need help.
It is easy to mock.
I am sitting here on tenterhooks hoping that the genocide can be stopped.

There is enough wanton, accidental death to go around.

Those evil, bloodthirsty, war mongering, Canucks pose a danger to everyone, with their dreams of world domination, and installation of slavery over all non-canadians.
Boy. Them, and Belgians. We best build a wall on that border.

15. What did you expect, for them to be a high level special forces or a legion of Jedi? |
|
Even the best equipped and most well trained forces have friendly fire. A rag tag, fugitive force is going to have some issues.
I supposed they are too disorganized and should just quit until they are tuned up to Green Beret or better status and have the finest equipment in the world.
Just a foolish and utterly unrealistic barb of no substance.

19. These aren't trained soldiers with a well-developed command and control system. |

It's a bunch of brave amateurs for the most part, operating largely independently to the best of their ability. Every military force on earth - good, bad, or indifferent - has blue-on-blue incidents.
