The Napoleonic Wars carried on well into the early 19th century, and France was the first country to declare war in the Franco-Prussian War of the 1870s. That's off the top of my head, for the 19th century.

And in the 20th, the french had this thing called Vietnam. It was just before that thing we had called Vietnam.

Also, there was the Algerian War, which was also like their Vietnam. And their Iraq. And their Libya.
