Hello! "Rebels" They don't know what they want and their democracy is too important to put in their hands.

We have a major track record doing this sort of thing. They just need to hunker down to avoid the shrapnel, suck it up if a few nosy kids die, and wait for us to install a Man of the People they need to vote for.

That sign....you know...I'll bet Gaddafi printed that sign himself! It's a trick. We should probably find that sign and blow it up before more people get tricked.

Since the people on the ground have been on TV saying "they're not invading, we asked for their help!" - I'll believe them before I believe one sign that looks a little slick and professional compared to those of the others who are in the streets. :shrug:

10. I remember when that photo first surfaced

Some people questioned the motives because it was a nice big graphic and the people were well-dressed. I.E. people thought it was the monied outside interests trying to push the idea that the Libyans didn't need help.

Other Libyans were calling for a NFZ. Not everyone on DU speaks with one voice, much less all Americans. Libyans can also disagree. They can also change their minds in reaction to changes in events. This is a fairly old pic, in the timeframe.

I don't know. I'm starting to believe more in Catherina's idea that the UN action is an attempt to stop the Arab revolutions. As for me - I will always be on the side of the Libyan people and will hope for the best case scenario, that the NFZ helps them get rid of Gaddafi and then they fight like hell against anyone trying to set up their government for them and win their freedom and determine their own future.
