Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz are both for intervening on the side of the rebels
Just thought it might be worthy of some discussion...

Here's something from the despicable Newsmax about Perle:

http://www.newsmax.com/KenTimmerman/RichardPerle-Libya-gadhafi-moammar/2011/03/07/id/388649

It's notable, of course, that the article doesn't point out that, until recently, Perle had been a paid lobbyist for Qaddafi, working to improve his image to the western world...

http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2011/02/22/richard_perle_libya

Then there's Wolfy. He, of course, has been saber-rattling of late:

http://www.thinktankedblog.com/think-tanked/2011/02/think-tank-paul-wolfowitz-wants-action-on-libya-now.html

The beat goes on...

1. neo-cons for intervention, liberals against.
I hope that shuts up all the pro-bombing cheerleaders in DU.

4. Wont happen
Im starting to think that Bush so ruined the GOP brand that our party ended up with a lot of moderate conservatives.

9. Like Hamsher allying herself with Norquist, no?
Let them dirty Libyans die on their own, that's what I say.

Qaddafi will be cheered to know he has allies on this site.

17. No, I think we should pick sides in every military conflict on the planet.
We should take a moral judgment, (because we are superior in that way, you know) pick a side and send in our bombs ... and our boots, if the situation requires.

We are and should be the moral force in the solar system because we have superior fire power. It is the natural order of things. And when we can no longer sustain our superior fire power, then it will fall to us to acknowledge the superior morality of the country that succeeds us in that theater. Also the natural order of things.

If I am against this military action because it appears to the rest of the world that the West will always intervene on the side of oil interests (among other concerns), it doesn't necessarily follow that I am a Qaddafi fan. I think he is scum. I hated Hussein too, for the record.

12. Don't hold your breath
To many on DU, Obama's endorsement of neocon policies will rehabilitate the PNAC crowd. So sad...

22. Perle's consulting firm is "Trireme Partners", named for a type of slave-powered warship
A Trireme is a warship powered by three decks of slave oarsmen. It truly is a fitting symbol for his worldview, and especially his respect for others.

One doesn't really need to vilify these guys, simply depicting them as what they are is damning enough.

13. Is it really notable?
Both Perle and President Obama love pie. Should I assume that liking pie is also morally abject? John Boehner and I have the same barber, are Facebook fans of the same pizzeria and oppose the teabagger-pushed agenda item to cut USDoT budget funds allocated to safety equipment upgrades on the DC Metro.

It is possible for generally-evil people to occasionally be on the right side of an issue for the right reasons or have the same opinions as us.

21. Fuck those neocons
Not much more than a month ago they were tripping all over each other singing the praises of Gadaffi, cutting weapons deals, sending in security advisers, setting up sovereign wealth funds, and generally bragging about how they had rehabilitated the man. He suddenly became the north African model citizen leading the charge against AQ. They even went so far as to have think tanks write up "studies" to give him a good polished academic veneer -and Perle was the leader of the pack. The article you noted merely shows that he was confused for a time when his guy was faltering and he could think of nothing better to do than attack the WH.

Seeing those bastards switch sides tells me only two things: that Gadaffi will soon be finished and that they are not only bastards, they are opportunistic and cynical bastards. Neither of those two things are a surprise in the least.

It says nothing about the Libyan people, their aspirations for return to a constitutional democracy, or the merits of the NFZ.

It just says that the Libyans will have to someday send the neocons packing -but only if they can survive Gadaffi first.
