Jeez, people.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves.

From now on, I'll be alerting to people who spells that country's name wrong.

1. I've seen a million different spellings for Qaddafi. Can you clarify
that spelling too?

8. There's several spellings
but the most accepted is Qaddafi.

I remember Khadaffy, Gadaffi, etc.

But the country's name is Libya and should be respected as such.

5. Spelling is one thing, but pronunciation is nearly exactly the same.
Currently we are fighting a war in Iraq and there's no consensus on how that country's name should be pronounced.

17. While we're at it... The past tense of lead is L-E-D, people. NOT LEAD.
That's the one that kills me on this board. 95% of the time people use "lead" for the past tense of lead.

:)

20. Oh, I got another one!!!
It's not "should of" it's "should HAVE". People say it together like should've - and I write it like that even though spellcheck doesn't like it, but spellcheck doesn't like spellcheck either so there.

Feels good to get that off my chest!

They're jerks.

But I really don't like the spell-check police, grammar police.....it's a message board. I often type so fast I use words out of context too. Shit happens. :)
