There are no other countries actively involved in bombing the Libyan military, there are no other...
...forces currently involved in enforcing the NFZ.

This is ANOTHER US led and ran military activity in the middle east...

At a time our leaders are screaming loud as they can that we are "broke".

I don't see the upside of this yet.

1. France and Britain aren't other countries, now?
Since when?

Please learn what you're talking about before making yourself look stupid.

26. "My sister, my daughter, my sister, my daughter"
"Politicians, ugly buildings and whores all get respectable if they last long enough."

"You see, Mr. Gittes, most people never have to face the fact that at the right time and the right place, they're capable of ANYTHING."

Robert Towne is a genius. Not that prolific, though; Corman once locked him in a closet and wouldn't let him out 'til he'd slid a certain number of pages under the door. Dass a fack, jack.

24. Actually it does
French and British planes taking part in missions, and among the vessels launching Tomahawk missiles against Libyan ground targets was a Royal Navy submarine.

Reading comprehension is indeed a good thing. You apparently lack it. Or else you've not actually read any of the news reports.

2. There are several phases of this operation

1) Removal of anti-aircraft equipment by BOTH the US and the UK, under US supervision.
2) Implementation of no-fly zone, when US hands over supervision to other countries.

Please see this excellent summary for the countries participating:

5. whatever...another unnecessary war...
we spent about $100 million just on the missiles we lobbed into Libya. But we're broke and can't fund any social services or education. Huh?

7. That money was spent long ago when the missiles were built.
Even if we didn't go into Libya that money was already gone, missiles built and stockpiled - they have expiration dates on them and more will be built to replace them.
If you wanna bitch at someone or lay blame on someone then blame the republicans for their funding the war machine we call 'defense' over all of these years.

12. They will have to be replaced
And that will cost the same, maybe more. If I total my paid for car, it costs me money even though it's paid for, since I will have to replace it.

Unless you are claiming this is the last bunch of cruise missiles that will ever be ordered.

14. They are all replaced anyway, they have an expiration date.
Even if we hadn't used them in Libya they would eventually expire and be replaced.

25. Were they all going to expire next week?
If not, then the missiles cost real money and the expiration dodge is all sophistry.

10. At least one French Fighter-Bomber has attacked armored vehicles
The British have fired Cruise Missiles.

The Italians have offered Tornado Fighter-Bombers, which is very interesting, since they were the former colonial masters of Libya, get 23% of Qaddafi's oil and had been sitting on the fence.

Four Qatari Jets are about to join and fight with the French.

It's multinational. Please try to do your homework; it's a nasty and emotional time, and I'd like reality and agreed-upon facts to hold sway.

15. I did not know France was now part of the US Military
and those Tornadoes flying from the UK were part of the USAF I guess... they are now part of OUR military.

I could also count the Italians (providing bases) but why bother?

Oh and by the way... the two british subs are part of the USN too.

Who knew?

In fact, the French went in to fly missions over Benghazi BEFORE the Missiles sanitized the area.
