4. GREAT! We missed it here in So Cal. Rain! All night long! When it wasn't completely overcast.
That's okay - it rained the night the radioactivity arrived from Japan and the AQMD and other air quality monitors said the levels were back down to background-only.

Heck. We need the rain anyway. May be a lot of it in the next couple of days. So that's okay. I saw it the night before last and it was pretty damn big. Even up at midheaven.

7. Thank you! I was hoping someone would post pictures of
the Super Moon. We could not see it here in Ojai, CA as it was raining last night. I was so disappointed.

It is beautful.

dumb question: are these photo-shopped?

I mean, these images are surreal! I live in Northern California, and we had a huge major storm last night, so i missed even so much as a glimps of the super-moon.

Also, these would be fun to share on facebook, are these public domain?

Edited on Sun Mar-20-11 06:59 PM by AsahinaKimi
Came from websites posting photos of the Supermoon. I hope they are accurate.

The one with the observatory.. I kept thinking.. of an Astronomer yelling "Pull back the lens!! You are too close!! TOO CLOSE!!"

27. Very true report on us here.
And even if the moon was peeking out between the clouds (which I don't think it was) I was too busy dodging falling tree branches to look up in the sky.

22. People often forget--if they even realize--that the
Earth and Moon are a dual planetary system. These pictures make it hard not to remember that the Moon is so large that it is actually a planet itself.

26. Beautiful pictures!!! The one with the saguaros reminded me of the first night I spent in the desert
.
.
.
...outside of Tucson about 30 years ago.
.
.
.
I watched in AWE as this HUMONGOUS yellow moon emerged very slowly from behind the mountains.
.
.
.
It's the type of scene everyone should have a chance to see at least once in their lives.
.
.
.
Thanks, AsahinaKimi!!!
