Remember the wars over calling the likes of Limbaugh gay |
|
and remember how many people here called people on my side humorless. Well here is why so many of us found this such a problem. http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=%22Bradley+Manning%22%2B%22faggot%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=1&cad=bGo ahead and give me chapter and verse how this is different.

1. Wow I am sorry. I don't use those kind of words but I am sorry that they hurt you. |

 It is hard to believe the hatred out there.

17. Do you have facts on that? Any links? |
|
I've a history of contempt for Limbaugh and his ilk. But where is any evidence he goes for children?

18. It's been discussed here in DU for years |
|
about his trips to the Dominican Republic with viagra presumably to have sex with children. True or false ... I don't know but many here believe it.

21. I've read these comments for years here. Comments don't make it true. |
|
Raine, I've been a DU member since early 2003 possibly even before then. :)
The comments which were based upon Limbaugh supposedly having Viagra in his luggage during a US Customs inspection. If I recall his doctor had prescribed it for Limbaugh under the MDs name in order to protect Limbaugh from publicity. (Limbaugh himself should have used a different name for his Rxs. That's what my MD pal's famous actor buddy does.)
But anyhow, it's pretty well known that Limbaugh is close friends with a couple of rich cigar barons who live in the Dominican Republic. Some of the world's finest cigars are made there and it's also legal there to buy Cuban cigars. I imagine Limbaugh could have visited his friends, enjoyed himself, and brought back all the best of Cuban cigars rebanded and reboxed as Dominicans.
Accusing a person, no matter how disgusting, of sexually violating children, when there is no basis for the accusation, takes away from the seriousness of how we should treat the crime of child endangerment. Limbaugh's genuine transgressions against decency and values are enough without throwing in fallacious accusations.

23. I agree. It's one of those things that |
|
has taken on a life of it's own and people because they keep hearing it believe it's a fact. I've never seen anything that shows it to be absolutely true, just innuendos. :hi:

13. So it's okay to call someone a faggot? |
|
Or are there a segment of people who believe she IS a watermelon? And by segment, I don't mean like 3% or anything. Do the people who think she's a watermelon also think other people are watermelons? Do they get icky if a watermelon wants to work alongside them? Do they feel disgusted if they see watermelons holding hands? I suppose watermelons can't teach their children, either. And God forbid one of their kids turns out to be a watermelon. What would the rest of the family think? The shame!
Oh yeah, how many watermelons were killed for being watermelons? Does your Google search indicate that? Because any literate person would see what dsc's Google search indicates.
By the way, if you know of any good youth watermelon novels, I'm taking recommendations. I'm currently reading Watermelon Meets Watermelon, followed by Seed (about a young transmelon). Actually, I'll take any (good) watermelon novels recommendations.

Your point is a "just saying," argument. Imagine a modern fellow on the street chatting up another person and then brings up the studies done back in the early 20th century that said African-Americans are scientifically dumber than Whites are; then the fellow goes, "I don't believe in those studies...I'm just sayin'..."
Words do have an association because of their history. You can ignore that with the use of your numbers and the betrayal of arbitrariness, but you can't hide what you're really doing--which is giving a pass for homophobic behavior. Manning isn't a faggot anymore the Dione is a watermelon, but there is a whole culture that believes and forces Manning to be a faggot; the same cannot be said of Dione.
So, no, you point does not stand, except as offensive.
