2. Oh, so that's why the building has been shaking and I can't hear the radio because the pounding
Edited on Sun Mar-20-11 08:16 PM by kestrel91316
on the roof is so loud......

It's been absofuckinglutely POURING for 20 hours.

Probably explains why my weather alert alarm has been going off. Haven't bothered to hit the button to listen to the alert details. I'm at home, warm and dry, and gonna STAY RIGHT HERE for now. Sirens all day long (all last night, too), now a Coast Guard helicopter going overhead.

10. I just looked at the radar: big reddish orange band smack dab on top of my
neighborhood. Oy.

It was so loud last night I didn't sleep well. Hope it passes over by bedtime tonight.

26. Thanks. We're pretty drenched.

It's been raining for some 21 hours here in West L.A. Lighter rain now. But it was pretty ferocious all day, compounded by the fact that so many local roads were closed for the LA Marathon. Driving's bad enough when that happens, but when it's all wet besides? OY. And NOBODY remembers how to drive in the rain. We do need it but when there's an onslaught the hills start becoming oversaturated. Then they slide down.

5. Thanks for posting this, my dear nadin...
VERY timely.

Our lights have been flickering on and off for hours...

And the occasional wind gust actually shakes the sliding glass doors.

Thank goodness we have a generator...

We're just not use to heavy weather. When we do get heavy rains, everything leaks!

24. I'm in Tarzana. Weather radar shows a red-orange band here but it is
moving east almost imperceptibly.

I am freaking out more because there is a red/PURPLE band heading for Huntington Bch, where my DBF is working on call this weekend and I really don't want him in any big box stores tonight if rain that hard hits.

29. Finally stopped
Just checked outside and the wind has died down, and rain just stopped. Maybe I can finally convince the poor dogs to go outside before bed. Every time I'd open the back door for them, they just stood there looking out. I could hear them saying "You're kidding right?" I hope we get a little break before the next storm hits. (in Long Beach)
