LAHORE:
Family members of the two men shot dead by CIA contractor Raymond Davis have secretly been flown out of the country, The Express Tribune has learnt.

A chartered plane carrying 18 family members of Faizan Haider and Faheem Shamshad, the two men killed by Davis, left the Chaklala air base on Friday at 4:30 pm for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), sources said.

The plane landed at the Dubai airport from where the 18 people proceeded to Abu Dhabi where two houses have been rented for them. Four American Green Cards and two residences in the US have also been arranged for the two families.

2. More tax dollars spent well...2 rental houses and airfare to Dubai...
and will probably be set up in the USA. I bet there's a couple of U.S. families who could use a house too.

6. Right. And they also paid $2.3 MILLION to release the CIA agent that killed their
family member. What's a million here? a million there? It means NOTHING to our government. $2.3 million would have bought a LOT of little homes for homeless people. Or bought a TON of food for the hungry. Or repaired a few schools. It's really sickening how they freely spend OUR money.

7. And here I thought we all had to 'share the sacrifice' because we
have no money? Sickening is putting it mildly.

3. Thank god for Sharia Law!
I wonder how freepers took the news that a CIA double murderer was saved by Sharia Law? It sounds rather capitalist. If you have enough money, you can get away with murder. But if you're poor, Sharia Law punishes you for that??

Sounds like the kind of law freepers could love to me.

5. hypocrites exist in Pakistan too, apparently.
These family members were shouting "Death to America" on Pakistani tv, but pony up a little money and a Green card and suddenly it's "We Love America"! I suppose their green cards dumped a few more deserving immigrants off the waiting list.

8. We'll see if they ever end up in the U.S.
I saw Scahill's tweet a couple hrs ago and he's tweeting back and forth with two other sources for more info. Doesn't sound like he's buying the all the details and finds the claims about the green cards particularly laughable.

Stay tuned, I guess.

10. The green cards and move has been reported from many sources around the net - here's one more.....

Uproar in Pakistan over release of CIA contractor Raymond Davis
Omer Farooq Khan, TNN, Mar 17, 2011, 08.17pm IST

( Read: 'Raymond Davis' release based on ISI-CIA secret deal' )http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/pakistan/Raymond-Daviss-release-based-on-ISI-CIA-secret-deal-Report/articleshow/7725725.cms

According to the law, a convicted killer could be pardoned if the victim's heirs agree to accept blood money. For weeks, Pakistan's federal and Punjab governments were working in collaboration with the country's military establishment to convince families of the dead men to pardon Davis in return of blood money and US green cards. The efforts for his release was essentially started when Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani met his American counterpart at the beach resort in Oman last month.

9. Why would these families want to live in the US?
That's a crazy idea.

11. They were in danger in Pakistan after they accepted the money. If you read the comments it says:
"Not sure why Pakistanis are upset. This is Islamic law, so they followed Islamic law and everything worked. In addition the relatives wanted to settle in the US. Just goes to show that no matter how much you may hate the US, every Pakistani wants a visa to the US."

...........

Not sure if everyone there was to move here but it seems they were in danger if they had stayed.

12. Something fishy here. Makes me wonder what kind of deal was
actually underway at the time of the shooting.
