If they bury them it may go into water table and get an explosion making things worst, or having releases for years until they control it.

Just caught the last half of the interview. Thanks for the heads up. Is anyone else astounded how some in the U.S. press are continuing to go along with the charade that this accident is only a Level 5 nuclear emergency comparable to Three Mile Island? This situation is magnitudes greater in danger than TMI. Six reactors involved vs one, three reactor buildings basically smoldering radioactive ruins, another with a hole in side of building, multiple spent fuel pools emitting radioactivity, several reactor cores in stages of melt down, radioactivity detected over 5K miles from the scene, documented contamination of food sources and drinking water, etc. This accident is a Level 5???

I live just east of TMI. If this is what a five looks like, I'm moving. Either TMI was much worse than reported or Fuku-shima is a seven.

6. There's more than one "5" in there. |

The Japanese have been reporting each of the reactors with its own number on that scale. So even if TMI was a "5", you have at least three separate "5"s here.
There's no question that this is worse than TMI. But there's also no question that it's nowhere near as bad as the only "6" on record. So what are they to do?
Part of the problem is that there is no single standard (or standards committee) that must be followed. Different countries can put their own interpretation on the scale. I think the real problem is that TMI had no business being scored as a "5" in the first place. This entire comparative exercise would be much simpler if it had been a "4"

4. I wasn't aware that Beyond Nuclear HAD any nuclear experts. |
|
But hey... any opportunity that might get Ed Asner on the screen could be worth my time. :)

They think that hitting "Unrecommend" is going to change the facts. Stupid is as stupid does.
