Effing Tweety fell off his meds. Again.
"Americans like quick wars." Then he cited Grenada and Panama. Really, Tweety? Really???

Reagan's contrived misadventure and Bush the First's illegal invasion and kidnapping hardly compare to what we're dealing with in the real world today.

Slobbering fuckwad.

5. He keeps proving what a dunce he is, doesn't he?
The MAIN "problem" we have with wars...ANY wars, is that the MEDIA always gets it WRONG....

Grenada?? really??

Panama?? really?

Two examples of totally wasted use of our military power, used just so they could blow some shit up and maim & kill some poor brown-ish people, and to burnish a record of an ineffective president who wanted to fight someone....some one easy.

13. He's not helping, but he's not exactly wrong, either. "Quick wars" sell well politically. Or did.

He might point out that 1) no war is "quick" and 2) it's despicable and idiotic to glibly buy into the notion that any kind of war, quick or otherwise, is something America ought to be into just because it can be "sold" to us politically.

Chris has the glib speak of a D.C. insider, but his heart's usually in roughly the right ... county, anyway. Just doesn't get it how incredibly stupid D.C. "wisdom" is on these things.

22. First of all
this is a false comparison. WW2....The US stayed out of it for a very very long time and would not have been involved at all if we had not been attacked. So the US was drawn into that war against it's wishes. The US in Iraq or pretty much anywhere else? That is war by choice. It's very different.

Every war has atrocities, involves people killing one another. Am I OK with people killing jews during WW2? No. It's despicable.

No one knows what would have happened if the US wasn't drawn into that war. But I would not have chosen to get involved in it, and apparently neither would our government. That's why it took an attack to get us involved. So bite me and go bait some one else loser.

18. That statement doesn't sound like he's condoning those wars or saying Americans did either
it sounds like he's saying that we like them to be tidy and quick. If so, he's right: we like everything to be easy and immediate; it's part of our national character.

I will watch it later today and see if this is the case.

I'm getting sick of the binary thinking on this board. Somehow if one is against the war, one loves Qaddafi and doesn't care about innocent civilians. Somehow if one disagrees with method, one is in disagreement with intent. Somehow if one person on one side of a debate says something one disagrees with, everyone on that side is in agreement, thus an asshole and a moron, and thus their point of view is not only incorrect but heinous.

Matthews is his own man, for all the annoyance that brings, and he often says the hard truth as he sees it. We DO like painless domination. It's not our best trait as a people, and it's indicative of a feeling of privilege. Let other people (enlistees, not our drafted children) fight to dominate foreign peoples for us and do so in a way that doesn't interrupt our vapid fixation on College Basketball or American Idol.

Remember: everyone who brings up uncomfortable points hates everything good, is physically repusive, stupid, close-minded and has horrendous bodily odor. Life is easy and simple, and that's why everyone's in a good and productive mood all the time.

Makes sense to me.

Try Scope; it works.

23. It does remind me of the dentist I had in 2003, who said to me
in about February, 2003, "We'll just go in there and kick their ass and take their gas and be out before the hot summer weather begins." That was the day he made a botched extraction and I had to rush to an oral surgeon the next day to finish that job. That was the last day he was my dentist.

I think that dentist is dead now. Iraq? They say we are leaving, but murders are still happening at a frightening pace
