2. That's nothing particularly remarkable. It's stayed close to parity
for a long time and has flipped in terms of value a couple of times before now, if galloping dementia is allowing me to remember correctly.

Canadian quarters still won't work at the laundromat.

29. Canadian quarters are pure nickel, so they are magnetic
and are thus automatically rejected by US coin-operated machines.

18. it goes back and forth, but last i knew the canadian dollar was worth more.
i live near buffalo and canadians come over to get good deals all the time and they talk about it on the news around here. they're just jealous. when the dollar is up then people go over to canada to get a good deal.

Edited on Mon Mar-21-11 09:34 PM by Art_from_Ark
Canada has a lot of metal minerals that have been benefitting from high market prices. For example, one of Canada's main metals, nickel, is now worth so much that the nickel in a Canadian nickel is worth more than the coin's face value.

19. The change has been for a few weeks now.
It was nice for my vacation in Florida in February and March.

When I moved to Canada in August 1969 the Cdn dollar was 14 cents more than than the US dollar.
It was sad when it went lower than the US dollar - as low as 45 cents lower. I didn't vacation those years.

It is nice to have more bang for my buck.

Now it says $5 US, $4.25 Canada.

As the price of oil goes, so goes the $CDN.

It's good for me, but bad for Canadian industry that exports to the US.
