"Triangle: Remembering the Fire" |
|
for those of you who have hbo, and didn't catch this documentary tonight, it will be available on demand starting tomorrow.
it was an incredible piece, and I urge everyone who can, to see this heartbreaking story.
if I had my way, every single damned repuke in the country would be forced to watch it until their eyes bleed, to see the horror they want to create. as one of the speakers said, anyone who wants to see deregulation in action, just has to look at triangle. sadly, I don't think any of them would give a damn.

That should be required viewing on every single television in this country.

2. Know this -- They DO NOT GIVE A RAT'S ASS. |
|
It goes beyond a mere "they don't care." They REALLY don't care.
They will only care when it hits home to them, because the only ones they care about are themselves.

4. one of the things that upset me, apart from the sheer horror, was the attitude of the granddaughter |
|
of blanck--she was talking about how she was glad, as his granddaughter, that he was acquited, but, had she been a relative of one of the victims, she would have shot him.

3. I missed it. Thanks for the heads up |
|
I've been telling my daughter in law and the grands about the Triangle. We've been discussing unions. Tomorrow all will sit their butts down and watch. They can agree or disagree afterwards.

7. Precursor to Wisconsin |
|
What I did not know: Triangle made money off the disaster because they were insured. They were right back in business after the fire.
The difference between then and now: the hoi polloi are too distracted by their smartphones, too enamored of their American Idol, and too propagandized by their FOX "News" to be bothered to protest for better working conditions. "There's another war going on? Meh, I'm playing Angry Birds..."

8. I had not known that either--and the fact that they were acquited "with tears in their eyes" |
|
was absolutely sickening.

although it seemed a little short. I would have liked to it have been a bit longer.

11. PBS has their own documentary about Triangle on their streaming website |
|
http://video.pbs.org/program/979359091/It is nice to see that this is being remembered by more than public television (although I am always grateful to PBS for what they do).

will look up the organization, but, when Omaha Steve first pointed out this doc, somebody pointed out that there is a group in nyc that, on the anniversary, goes around the area marking where each person lived. quite a tribute.
