1. Oil in their lungs from the toxic tsunami waters.
Hypothermia from being in the water. Overwhelmed hospitals.

100 meters, 100 kilometers, microsieverts, millisieverts, what's the difference?

we're all going to die from radiation poisoning and japan is a nuclear wasteland.

everything you hear from the japanese is a lie unless it's bad, in which case it's true.

eat your iodine & get your war on.

Nice article about Edano if you haven't seen it.
It's the WSJ, but still...

21 March 2011
Chorus Leader, Twitter Sensation, Prime Minister?

“He was a young star on the rise but not necessarily the front-runner in terms of the next generation of potential DPJ leaders,” said Koichi Nakano, professor of political science at Sophia University in Tokyo. “Edano was viewed as someone that was competent but he also came across as at times not careful enough in his statements when he was party chairman. But given the gravity of the event he’s seen more as more solid, focused and serious person and perhaps at least trustworthy for now.”

This crisis may lift Mr. Edano’s status among the Japanese public in a way that Prime Minister Naoto Kan has so far been unable to grasp.

First, his supposed ability to defy sleep turned the government spokesman into a Twitter sensation with thousands of chirps imploring the increasingly haggard-looking, but sturdily anchored man behind the podium to rest.

Rumors that Mr. Edano finally slept after 105 hours swirled around the Twitterverse with some users photoshopping images of the dozing government spokesman in a nightcap.
