Puppy dumped for being deaf is given a new home... and learning sign language

An eight-week-old puppy cruelly dumped because she could not hear has been given a new home by a deaf couple who are teaching her sign language.

Alice the black and white springer spaniel was dumped by a breeder in Ireland at just eight weeks old because she was deaf.

Staff at The Blue Cross who rescued the distressed pup were worried that no one would want her because she could not respond to her owner's commands and calls.

But Alice has found her perfect match in couple Marie Williams, 41, and her partner Mark Morgan, 43, who are both deaf.

3. Two things...that is one freaking adorable puppy...second, that breeder needs
to rot in hell...prior to this, take away whatever license or whatever so he can't be a breeder anymore.

5. Makes me wonder what else that breeder did that wasn't noticed.
Their animals should all be confiscated.

8. Yup, for far too many of them, all they see is money...
not the dogs themselves.

6. It's smart to teach hearing dogs sign language in case they ever do go deaf. Our dogs know a couple
signs. Plus it's another puzzle for their tiny brains to work on.

10. My first dog, a wonderful cocker named Lucie, was deaf for the last
3 or 4 years of her life. I learned, and taught her a few signs> She kenw the signs for "eat", "cookie", "car", "go outside" and others. She also knew we were going for a walk when I picked up the leash, and learned other cues. She was amazingly smart, and live a good life in spite of her deafness.

7. i had a deaf boxer. she was probably the best dog i ever
had. she always had canine siblings, so she just followed the pack, and she was fine.

9. Thank you for posting. Amidst all the troubles in our world,
it is nice to read a good story. We have adopted dozens of unwanted and abused pets over the years. One of the ones we have now is deaf. Not a big problem.
