2. A lot of universities have golf programs.
There are a lot of golf courses, and a lot of aspects to running them, from greens to teaching to accounting. And even weak tour pros can make a living at it for a few years, with sponsors and a few good finishes.

11. Not corrected.
Just given a few more details. That's teh beauty of this place, t'ain't it? :)

I had a friend who was golf pro major at Mississippi State. He was on the team, and a decent golfer, but his lifetime desire was to design courses. He was also a right wing fundamentalist, so I forgot him as quickly as I could, but his career goals didn't sound any more unusual than mine at the time.

4. Yep, the wrong people are paid the big bucks.
Teachers and nurses should be earning the big bucks.

People who whack golf balls around a golf course should earn what teachers do.

8. HEY! someone unrecced my rec!!
I just wanted to tell you I rec'd this... colleges and universities are losing students to colleges that are totally not accredited and pretty worthless. It is undermining the public university system to line the pockets of people who own for-profit schools.

12. Instead of them handing you a diploma when you graduate,...
you take a shower and pound a couple of gin and tonics in the clubhouse.

17. To be fair, there are good jobs in the golfing industry, don't know if you need a special school
And old friend wanted a degree in Horticulture so she could work as a lawn care specialist for golf courses. She went to a regular college.

18. Found this thread while researching going to a golf college! Google is quick
Never thought I would have been here but I've heard good things. There are lots of these programs at 20+ universities around the country. Most are BA/BS degrees, this one is an AS. And Keiser is regionally accredited and not-for-profit.
