Breaking News ! The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is Alive
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/03/02/951841/-Its-on!-Wisconsin-Dems-officially-back-recall-effort-against-GOP-Senators

Daily Kos MARCH 2, 2011

The page announcing their support for the campaign, which is also a donation page to the Wisconsin Democratic Party, can be found here, . Greg Sargent interviews, the chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party about this development: The Wisconsin Democratic Party has decided to throw its weight behind a nascent grassroots drive to recall a number of GOP state senators

Wisconsin Democratic Party StrategySit around and wait for a trend to smack you in the ass with a 2 X 4. Then wait another two weeks, to be sure it's real.

If so, follow it on Twitter.

2. Who knows what they were doing prior to this.
Wasn't the recall in conjunction with the OFA? If so, that might suggest that the DNC working with the Wisconsin State Democratic Party may have already been working to make this happen.

Also, many Republicans are supporting this recall and it may look better if it has the appearance and the power of a grassroots effort.

3. For everyone who has been awaiting an opportunity
to donate money to an actual Democratic Party that acts like a Democratic Party, here is your chance.

5. We have an amazingly dynamic, effective & sharp county chair.
The other officers are no slouches either--it's a very active group, especially now that they have gotten shed of a certain amount of deadwood on the exec committee (me).

7. LOL, yep gotta get those dinasaurs out of there. We could use help here...
I worked at local Dem HQ in Fondy last fall. No Facebook. No Twitter. No events ('cept when Russ came). Ignore three colleges.

But make a superhuman effort to call every land line that was ever connected to a Democrat, to coax widowns off their deathbeds to come vote. We got creamed, which is just what we deserved.

What can you share with me as for your organization / gameplan?

Thx,

Scuba

11. We've done various things such as showing appropriate movies
for free to the community. As for the more modern stuff, I've been out of the loop and rather inactive for the past year or so (except for begging votes for Russ & Barrett from widows & farmers, calling on their landlines). Lately, though the Dem teachers have been organizing informational meetings for their colleagues, etc. The last meeting was one of the most energized things I've ever seen, & people are focusing on recall & Kloppenburg, door to door. Our particular coprophage isn't eligible for recall, so people are bussing over to the next district west & down to LaCrosse.

Facebook, Twitter, e-mail announcements, fundraisers, training program for activists and candidates--the whole nine yards. Everyone is welcome at the next meeting, Monday night, March 28. See the website at http://www.milwaukeedems.org/ for details.

8. Hold it; aren't they afraid of appearing partisan?
I suppose if the people get far enough ahead on something, the "leaders" will run around to the front eventually. Gotta look like you're leading something.

12. The only breaking new here is your noticing it.
Or anyone else with a grudge against the Democratic Party for whom an active party goes against the preferred meme.

First, that news isn't breaking. The article dates itself as March 2.

Anyone who is a dues paying member of the DPW or was even remotely involved knew the DPW was neck deep in the opposition efforts from the beginning. Their staffers were on the square for the rallies, they were training rally marshals (andasking for volunteers to do this), sleeping in the capitol, and sending out communications about all the events taking place in Madison from the very day Walker proposed his Budget Despair Bill.

They also had a plan for instituting recalls. Once people on the ground filed their petitions, the DPW got behind it, put up a webpage announcing it, coordinating recall efforts, calling for volunteers and donations to help pay for associated costs. You can find it here --> www.recalltherepublican8.com

I know this goes against the myth everyone here dearly loves to cling to.

But some bubbles need to be burst.

13. Glad you responded....
First, I think the Democratic Party was late to the party.

Second, my experience working on Russ's campaign last fall painted a poor image of Party organization.

Third, I want to make it better. JackpineRadical says things are better in his area. Here in east central Wisconsin things could use a little, let's say, "modernizing". What are you doing in your area?
