Here's my post to Rick Scott's FB page for his townhall meeting |
|
I wonder if he'll be answering my question?
As a native Floridian and resident of Naples, my only comment is that your purchase of the Governor's office is the saddest day in Florida history. Your agenda of taking from the "have nots", while protecting the "haves" is morally reprehensible. My question: How do you sleep at night? Unfortunately, I couldn't add the shrug.

1. The FL I lived in for 30 years has turned into ... |
|
... The "Wild, Wild East".
Somebody bug you? Take your gun from your visible holster and shoot them. Some dog look threatening? Pick em off.
School too "public"? Privatize it. Road too old? Privatize it. Shore line too accessible? Privatize the shore, eliminate the balance of clean water and air, In fact, why not just gate your community.
Can't afford a house? Too late, the mortgages are all upside-down and you're fucked if you think you can make a living in places like Sarasota anymore if you are a teacher or health care worker. Maybe public transit still works.
I wonder if my old get-away places are still there? Beverly Beach? Some of the places on the way up to the panhandle we used to go to. The "old" Florida. What about the Everglades? What do they look like now?
Do these people know what they do? No... they know not.

3. Don't you love these "electronic town halls"? |
|
Back in the day when I lived in Seminole County, I used to show up to real buildings with my video camera. Bill McCollum's crew never reacted to any of my requests, but at least I was attending in person to a real event.
A lot has changed since the days of Walking Lawton Chiles, who inspired a lot of us to be active public citizens.
Keep at it, FlaGatorJD!
