What’s the “Return” on Your Social Security Taxes?

..Whether you believe it or not, Social Security is going to be a part of your future, and when the time comes, you’ll be glad you’ve got it. Yes, our national pension system has some well-known fiscal problems, but Uncle Sam can solve them by any number of bearable cost-cutting and/or tax-raising solutions before the money runs out. The question remains, though: Is it worth it? Will the benefits you’d receive under current law compensate you for the career’s worth of taxes you’ll have paid into the system? The latest answer, generated by a new Urban Institute Social Security study, is: yes. (Surprised?) As far as it’s possible to project, Social Security and Medicare give you a positive return on your tax “investment” even after inflation.

WHEN YOU TEACH YOUR KIDS THAT BIG BUSINESS JUST WANTS THAT MONEY FOR THEMSELVES THE BULL WILL STOP AND THE SYSTEM WILL BECOME AN EVEN BETTER RETURN.

1. If you get more money it's not that your investment generated income, but that a young person must
Pay for you.

A society can dictate that any future generation pay whatever amount we want them to. But legislation isn't set in stone. Will the workers of the future pay for our social security income, our medical care, and the enormous debt interest we leave them? How much of their salary will we demand from them? Will it allow them to make an adequate life for themselves?

2. WILL BUSINESS SUPPORT YOUR OLD AGE
ABSOLUTLEY NOT! I CAN TELL BY YOUR RESPONSE THAT YOUR YOUNG AND WET BEHIND THE EARS.
OF COURSE WHEN I ENTERED THE WORK FORCE THE RHETORIC WAS: START SAVING,THEY WILL MAKE YOU RETIRE BY THE AGE OF 50,THE SS SYSTEM IS CONTROLLING TO MUCH MONEY! THE MONEY SHOULD BE PUT INTO CIRCULATION,ETC ETC.! THEN CAME SSI,AN EASING UP OF REQUIRMENTS TO GET SSI,THE OPENING OF SS LOCKS AND THE IOU'S STARTED PILLING UP! WHY =BECAUSE THE BUSINESSES WERE NOT FUNDING YOUR COMPANY BENEFITS!THEY GOT AWAY WITH IT AND EVENTUALLY THE GOVERNMENT DID!
NOW SON ANSWER THAT! THE FACT IS IF THE IOU'S WERE PAID AND THE INTERST WE LOSS BECAUSE OF THOSE IOU'S THE SOCIAL SECURITY WOULD BE SOLVENT!THE REASON WE HAVE SS IS BECAUSE BUSINESS COULDN'T OR WOULDN'T PROVIDE AND GREATER MINDS THAN YOURS AND MINE FOUND A SOLUTION!
WHATS YOUR ALTERNATIVE? THATS WHAT I THOUGHT YOU HAVE NONE!

3. The ruling class can dictate that the workers pay whatever amount they want them to.
But legislation isn't set in stone.

Will the workers of the future pay for their jets, their mansion, the interest on their investments (i.e. the US debt), the bad casino bets they stuck us with?

How much of our salaries will they demand from us?

Will it allow us, or our children, to make an adequate life for ourselves?

^^^^

Ramping up the inter=generational warfare again I see, dfk?

4. there have been a lot of years and lobbyists and corporate dollars put into building this
exact type of thinking. social security is not actually insolvent. imagine you went to the bank and deposited money. actually, every paycheck you deposited money into this savings account. then the bank takes your money and uses it to make loans. now when you go to get your money, they say they are sorry, but you don't have the money you put in there because it isn't there. would you accept that? you would not. it is called theft. that is what they have done. borrowed the money and are now trying to not have to pay it to the people who paid into it. in any other circles it would be considered embezzlement... theft. but there have been lots of dollars put into developing this type of thinking that you espouse.

5. I CAN TELL
YOUR YOUNG AND WET BEHIND THE EARS-WHATS YOUR ALTERNATIVE? PUT IT IN A 401 K? WE ALL KNOW THEY ARE FAR FROM SECURE!A TYPICAL EXAMPLE IS THE MARKET SWINGS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS! HOW ABOUT SICKNESS IN YOUR LATER YEARS? YOU THINK THE MASS CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT PROGRAMS LIKE MEDICARE? WHY DO YOU SUPPOSE THESE PROGRAMS WERE INVENTED! YOU HAVEN'T THOUGHT OUT THAT SIDE YET!
WHEN I ENTERED THE WORK FORCE I WAS TOLD TO SAVE BECAUSE I WOULD BE FORCED TO RETIRE WHEN I WAS 50! THERE WAS TO MUCH MONEY IN THE LOCK BOX OF THE SS FUND! THEN CAME THE IOU'S-WHY BECAUSE BUSINESS WASN'T FUNDING THEIR PENSION PLANS AND HAD NOT FOR YEARS! SO THE THINKING BY THE "HAVES"WERE WE GET AWAY WITH IT WHY NOT UNCLE SAM!
SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW-YOUR EARNING AND SAVING POTENTIAL IS GREATER IN THE LAST 10 YEARS YOU WORK! UNLESS YOUR COMPANY FAILS;YOUR 401 TANKS,AND YOUR JOBS ARE OUTSOURCED!AN YOU BETTER REALIZE IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE YOUR EDUCATION,YOUR JOB SKILLS OR YOUR POSITION. THEIR ARE FORMER BUSINESS OWNERS,TEACHERS,GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND ALL WALKS OF LIFE BROKE AND HOMELESS THAT NEVER THOUGHT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO THEM!
I HOPE FOR YOUR FAMILIES SAKE YOUR PLAN WORKS OUT!

6. where's the beef?
What happened to the trillions of dollars of tax monies collected since Reagan to keep SocSec solvent even when all those baby boomers retired? I paid those taxes and I expect SocSec to be there as long as I live. Period.

If you want to let tptb rob those trillions to pay for corrupt wars and tax breaks for the rich god bless you. I am not so forgiving, or forgetful, or uneducated, whatever.

What tptb propose is as much robbery as Madoff's plan was.

How can you buy into the lies and ignore what is going on?
