WASHINGTON – New legislation introduced in the Senate would slash pensions for all federal employees hired starting 2013, invoking the argument that benefits for government workers are too generous and are a large contributor to budget deficits.

The "Public-Private Employee Retirement Parity Act," offered Thursday by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and co-sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), would eliminate all pensions under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) but keep the Thrift Savings Plan in tact. The bill would also apply to members of Congress.

3. not only that ...
how many government employees (and I'm not talking about currently in the military) are former service members? I remember that bit of "affirmative action" which was in place ... there was a few extra points in your favor in hiring if you served in the armed forces, ESPECIALLY if you were a veteran ...

so ...

Why do Republicans hate the veterans? Why isn't the "liberally biased media" pointing this out?

4. Great.
I say all of them go first. No pensions for members of Congress or Senate. I worked for a large health care company several years ago. They hit a rough patch and the CEO asked everyone to submit ideas to cut costs. No executive could suggest cutting personnel as a method of cutting costs unless that executive was the first job to be cut.
