Globization
I have never heard a politican or a talk show host summarize globalization in this manner. However, in the shower, I realized that globalization made goods cheap, but at the expense of hollowing at the middle class.

In one sentence, I summarized the benefits and cost of globalization. Why have our politicans have not been honest and stated this to American people? If you want a vibrant middle class, you will have to pay more money for goods, but they will be made in America and more people will have better paying jobs.

In economics, there is saying "There is no such thing as free lunch". If you want to jobs in the US, you will have to pay more for it. If you want cheaper goods, than you will get hollowed-out middle-class and there will be less good jobs that are available.

2. Globalization has been the vicious cycle
that enriches the financial elites and CEOs but hurts everyone else. Wall St and the NY money people are the major enabling push to one way trade that has led to the downhill slide. We lose they profit. "Inside Job" describes how the financial services sector became such a huge part of our economy (meaning they became rich) as the wherewithal of everyone else went downhill. The richer the financiers become the more influence they have and the more our country and middle class are squeezed to their benefit. Now they want your social security. We need to implement public funding of elections and minimize the influence of lobbying.

PS: You might want to edit your title.
