Denver traffic stop keeps father from seeing birth
Denver traffic stop keeps father from seeing birth

DENVER - Marc Santala waited nine months for the birth of his daughter but wasn't able to see her come into the world because he was pulled over for speeding on the way to the hospital.

Santala's wife, Paula, went into labor Thursday.

"My wife informed me it was time to be heading to the hospital," Marc Santala said.

The couple left their home in Flagler, Colo, about two hours east of here, and drove toward Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center on Interstate 70. Marc Santala admitted to speeding on the way.

"Needless to say, I wasn't letting any grass grow under me on the highway," he said.

4. 2 Points
1) Driving 100 miles an hour while in an emotional state is dangerous to you and everyone around you
2) This is their 8TH kid!!!!!! This only matters in that the father stated " It's something they took away from us that we can never get back," Marc Santala said.

The cop was right to arrest him. Having an emergency is no reason to endanger everyone else around you.

5. Newborns lack visual acuity
"The Santalas said they are happy their girl is safe but said they wish she could have seen both their faces the moment she was born."

After all those kids it seems they would know the little infink can't hardly make out much for a while.

6. And if he'd had an accident and killed himself, his wife, and new
baby, along with, perhaps, some others, that would be OK because he was rushing to the hospital? Really? Amazing.

7. TRANSLATION: Poor preparation keeps father from seeing birth
But ultimately the father is grateful that the state troopers prevented a potential tragedy that would have killed them all and left their other seven kids orphans...

I guess the art of good newswriting will finally be lost once the last generation retires...
