It ain’t easy being a white, Christian American of European descent

After all, look at the number of people in this country who have gone batshit crazy because the white race in the U.S. isn’t growing as fast as blacks, Hispanics, Asians and assorted “others.” I must have missed the memo about America being the sole property of white, Europeans of Christian descent.

Growing up in the New York City public school system, I didn’t spend any time thinking about who was white, black, of European descent, or who was a Christian. Stupid me. It never occurred to me that such things counted. There I was in the same classrooms with “inferior” human beings, yet I was totally unaware of it because there was no Limbaugh or Fox “news” to clue me in.

I guess I’m supposed to be grateful to today’s Republican Party and their wholly owned media for pointing this out to me. Imagine! I might have spent my entire life in ignorance as to who was “worthy” of being a “real American” and who wasn’t.

Okay, enough sarcasm. I’m sick of the insanity being fed to us by bigots on radio, TV, the print media, and wing nut websites. It’s time we started shunning anyone and everyone who submerges themselves into this sewer of ignorance and hatred. I have ex-friends with whom I haven’t spoken in years because they are dumb enough to eat the shit they’re being fed. And I have relatives that I steer clear of for the same reason. (It ain’t always easy.)

I do what I can to fight this despicable crap on a personal basis. I don't know what else I can do. But I’d sure like to hear what you are doing and how I can do more to fight this insanity.

They have worn out the regular vocabulary, and ventured to make Freepspeak the norm. It will cost them dearly soon. Americans dont want thug and communist as regular charges. Nor do they want fascist, communist, socialist and every other thing but neocon laissez faire capitalist termed social enemy.

They will peter out too soon. And as for vocabulary malfunctions, in particular, Romney is not able to freepspeak. He wiil be deemed too elitist, and WOODEN.

They are toast, as a majority group. and do and say outlandish things, as humans have for eons. Just like dogs, we sense loss of prestige or support immediately, and are frightened. Unfortunately, the collapse hit the poor and disspossessed hardest, especially in employment. So, the class that still has jobs, simply charges that those on hard times are there for moral failings. To demonize them, so to discount. Simply human nature. We have not evolved as a species since they called us homo sapiens. And certainly we are more delicate and less cooperative.

4. Its so wierd...

I just got about 15 Hate messages on twitter, from some girl I have never met before. I have never sent her a tweet, she's not on my buddy list, yet I was the target for her hatred. The best thing I could do was to report her for spamming, and throw her on ignore.

It was kind of shocking really, to see someone put so much effort into coming up with nasty, despicable messages. I guess, you can't even reason, about hate. Its kind of a bit of insanity. Maybe the girl was off her medications, I really don't know. Its more then likely she hates all Asians or people of color, for whatever reasons, and yet she was following me on Twitter. Why bother if you hate someone so badly?


I feel sorry for her. Maybe if she got to know who I am, she might have felt differently. Then again, maybe not. I don't think I will truly understand it.

or anything she refuses to understand. She was trying to bully you online and you did the right thing by shutting her down. She will find another person to try to victimize, as you were not weak and stood your ground until she lost all control. The other side, Republicons and their ilk, lack civility. Some have little education and have been brainwashed by a media and education system that are failing the potential future leaders of this country, the girl who tried to bully you, will not be one of them. You can't talk to them, there's no debating with facts and most of them are not coming from a place of reality and you are. So, I congratulate you on doing the civil thing, by stopping her, from subjecting you to her ugly, insane, and hateful, bullying.

9. It's a culture shock , isn't it, leaving NYC?

I was born and raised in Manhattan back in the 50s and 60s. Actually, in the West Village around all those "pervert" gay people. Imagine good christian parents letting their kid cat sit for a gay couple upstairs. Oh, the HORROR of it. But then, my Aunt came out in the 50s and my family didn't bat an eye over it, even though she raised my cousin with her partner.

My best friends were Puerto Rican (learned Spanish from them), black (ate black peas and ham hocks with her), and Greek (learned to Sign from her). Just imagine putting a young child through all that???? What child abuse! And to top it all off, what good Christian (Catholic at that) would decide on purpose to only have ONE CHILD as my parents did. Actually, I didn't know anyone who had more than 3 kids, including my Hispanic friends. Where are you going to PUT a quiverfull of kids in a tiny Manhattan apartment?

Moving to Florida, which is still the South and the Bible Belt, was an eye opener. Apart from the new Crook Governor, the attitude here against minorities, especially Mexicans, is pitiful. The majority of the whites really hate them.

I have worked in both the richest, all white schools here, and also the poorest which were just about all minority. You know, I prefer working with the minority (and disability) kids and their parents. They aren't snooty, arrogant, transplant white people who think their s-----t doesn't, well, nevermind. The kids, and their parents, APPRECIATE what you do for them. I cannot tell you how many hugs I have recived from the kids, and even the PARENTS too. One of those, or a simple Thank you, or Gracias, is worth more than money.

Well, sorry, for getting OT. Just venting, but in conlusion, I know extactly what you mean.
