Christian Science Monitor's: Are you smarter than a Fox News viewer?
American voters were quizzed on their knowledge of issues and facts raised in the 2010 midterm elections, in a survey by World Public Opinion, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.

Respondents were also asked where they get their news from: Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, newspapers, network TV news, public broadcasting.

The survey found that "substantial levels of misinformation were present in the daily consumers of all news sources." But Fox News viewers were significantly more likely to be misinformed than those who get their news from other sources. And, greater exposure to Fox News increased the degree to which viewers were misinformed.

This is not simply a matter of partisan bias. People who vote Democratic and watched Fox News were also more likely to be misinformed than those who did not watch it – though by a lesser margin than those who vote Republican. Those who got their news from NPR, CNN, or MSNBC were better informed on most – but not all – of the issues in the survey.

We've presented the 11 questions just as the survey asked them. How well informed are you?

NOTE: All these questions have fact based answers on the site

8. I got 9 out of 11
I had thought it was proven the Chamber of Commerce took foreign money.

And, I had thought the auto bailout was signed into law under Bush, but just continued under Obama.

7. I think factcheck.org is wrong on that one
It was proven that the Chamber of Commerce received money from foreign interests. However, since money is a fungible asset, you can't directly tie it to campaign spending. (i.e., the money from a foreign corp could be used for something non political, but using the money for something non-political frees up additional money to be used for the political...)

6. Well let's see: are you smarter than a pile of rocks?
If the answer is "yes," then you ARE indeed smarter than a Faux News viewer. ;-)

Note however that this quiz has been posted before on DU.

12. Nine out of eleven despite not living in the US for most of the relevant period
which may partly explain why; I get most of my news from the Guardian and BBC.

20. I got two wrong.
I missed 6 and 7.

I chose Obama for #6. I think I confused cash for clunkers with the auto bailout.

With #7, like others here, I'm a little skeptical of factcheck on that.
