Since Walker Sworn-In, 19 Plant Closings and Mass Layoffs Have Cost Wisconsin 2,207 in Lost Jobs
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 01:40 PM by Ellipsis
Meanwhile, Walker has taken a victory lap for "creating jobs" by paying an Illinois company $1.25 million to move their address a few miles north to Wisconsin. As discussed earlier, this doesn't create jobs or tax revenue: All the Illinois employees will just have a slightly longer commute to work and because of Illinois-Wisconsin tax reciprocity agreements, will continue to pay taxes to Illinois.

Look, look, shiny thing!

Tomorrow in Janesville Wisconsin Scott Walker will be speaking to a group of 700 people. They are currently expecting 200 or so protesters to show up.

<snip>

“I understand the protesters’ feelings,” said David Bagley, Forward Janesville’s incoming chairman and director of McGladrey & Pullen in Janesville. “My wife works for the School District of Beloit, so we understand the financial impact these changes are having on families.

“The protestors have every right to be at this event protesting, however, I hope we can let civility rule the day. The sooner we can come together as a community, the faster we will be able to focus on growing our economy and bring good paying jobs to Rock County.”

I have a funny feeling there will be more then 200 people showing up.

9. There's a ton of small school districts in that area, I 'm sure they will be represented.

Plus Janesville is / was an old UAW town. I wouldn't be surprised if several thousand people show up.

...and I won't be surprised if he cancels.

2. Somebody, with money to spend, should put up a giant tote board and post job losses in WI.

5. K&R I share that funny feeling with you....
The Chairman is too distracted, by the money, to care how ridiculous his request of "coming together" to watch him and some of his coworkers obtain jobs while others are being economically terrorized by Walker's illegal moves.

7. Some of this was anticipated before he was elected... but still.
His concern is not about the people of Wisconsin. Not as far as I can see anyway.
