2011 is proving to be the most active year for pro-life advocates in decades. Several major bills have already passed this year.

Abortion battles spring up nationwide as states test the limits of Roe v. Wade

The anti-abortion rights movement last year found itself in a set of circumstances that have all worked to advance their agenda. Most importantly, states across the country elected new, emboldened conservative politicians. Hundreds of anti-abortion rights legislators and a net of 12 new anti-abortion rights governors were elected, according to Americans United for Life.

Meanwhile, a set of news-making events in the past year -- such as the passage of health care reform and video of the conservative "sting" on Planned Parenthood -- galvanized conservative activists. National leaders are more vocal than ever on the issue. And a possibly sympathetic swing vote now sits in the Supreme Court.

"It's been kind of a perfect storm of sorts," said Dan McConchie, vice president of government affairs at Americans United for Life.

1. "Americans United for Life"
They should modify that to: Americans Untied for Life for Rich White People.

3. Elections have consequences
and there is a big difference between what Democrats and Republicans try to do once in office (despite attempts to assert the contrary).

13. Good!
I'm thankful every day that the US Senate did not go Republican last year too. Unfortunately, far too many states went completely Republican, including mine, last year due to the "red tide of tea".

4. The PZP (Pro-Zygote Party) is a busy, busy bunch.
Probably women shouldn't be allowed to vote any more, since their selfish interests will interfere with election of pro-zygote candidates.

12. I'm waiting for the A-Holes to push draconian laws for behavior of pregnant women.
Stuff like, "No high heels. You might fall and hurt the tiny baby." or "No flying. You might get an extra rad of radiation that might hurt the fetus."

But just try to convince them that pregnant women and children need clean, uncontaminated, nontoxic, healthy food and water. Or clean air to breathe.
Geez, they push anti-choice laws while trying to defund WIC, the EPA, etc. What freaking hypocrites.

14. What about pushing good comprehensive sex education (based on research)
so that girls/women don't even have to worry about making a choice? Nope! Can't do that either!!! It's enough cognitive dissonance to make your head explode, isn't it?

16. Please put quotation marks around "pro-life" when you say that.
It is a shorthand way of saying, "So-called pro-life".

17. Now that women are such a large percentage of the voting block...
the Republicans must be cronically constipated over the power that those numbers could respresent. Their only way to combat it? Smack women down in the control department. Take away as many of their rights as possible...denigrate their intelligence...remove their dignity...you know, try everything they are now doing to obliterate the middle class.
