Now first of all, please allow me to say that when the cnn logo comes on, it looks like the word 'cum' to me...I'm either getting tired or delusional, but really...pretty insane on my part I suppose - but can you blame me? I'm subjected to this network around the clock, since Lockup has better ratings than the "End-of-the-World-as-we-know-it Show.

Secondly: I consider myself a survivor in a sense from the TMI disaster, and I remember this guy spouting lies thirty-two years ago and he's no better at lying now than he was then. He is stating that if you follow the government's advice, there's nothing to worry about.

That statement alone makes me want to buy a Geiger counter, and I live 10000 miles away...see: nothing was really spouting from that reactor and then all of a sudden, babies aren't supposed to drink the water 100 miles away. OK...so what if the kid is 2 years old? Then it's safe, right? How about 18 months? Is is still safe? If it is, how about 16 months? Not safe? Then what happens in the two months? Or four months? Is it statistical WHEN IT'S YOUR KID??

But nothing's going on...it's perfectly safe. Well, not really: those poor technicians in the plant are probably radioactive-tan by now, but I'm sure they'll be all right...at least for the next day and a half...IMO, I believe that those right around the reactor are walking dead/sick now and that's why the Japanese Government hasn't done all that much to bring in help. There's nowhere to evacuate anyone to on an island that small - small as far as radiation plumes and groundwater infiltration are concerned - and anyway, Liz Taylor died, which in fact really did upset me - yes, I'm that old and remember seeing her films in the theaters. which brings me to the point of my post: the subject today in the office was "the four most beautiful women in hollywood" My answer: Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren, and Lena Horne. Opinions vary of course, but it sure was a distractor: when I told the office staff and patients that Taylor had died as it came over the wire, two people said "Oh no!" and three people were just stunned. The very young people didn't give a crap - it was interesting.

6. I really can't talk about TMI. My best friend since the age of 4

was with her husband who was working at TMI when the accident occurred. She was fully into the mindset that nuclear power is safe.

She had 'cysts' in her breast that had to be drained every 6 months in her late twenties, she was 19 when they were at TMI. Physicians never tested the fluid that they were draining off, and she finally had a biopsy of the multiple sites, and finally the fluid was checked also, and she was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer that 'isn't commonly found in a woman your age'. She was 31.

She was asked if she'd been exposed to radiation and she always said no. I've seen the studies since TMI, and there may be no connection between her being there, and what happened to her.

She's dead now, and I've always wondered about her being at TMI when it happened.

they, as I, came from a very small town in GA. Miles away, but in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I do remember reading about the studies done by a citizens group from Harrisburg, and the study mentioned people who had moved away. I still think my friend was a death by TMI.
