Tea Party scolded for calling Haslam 'socialistic'
Tea Party scolded for calling Haslam 'socialistic'

Associated Press - March 23, 2011 2:55 PM ET

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Tea Party is drawing sharp rebukes from Republicans for claiming Gov. Bill Haslam showed "socialistic" tendencies in his previous role as mayor of Knoxville.

The group is angry at Haslam for failing to support a Senate bill that would do away with teachers' collective bargaining rights. But Republican Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville called the group's statement about the governor "absolutely ridiculous."

Haslam, who laughed off the description in a news conference on Wednesday, has endorsed the House version exempting several areas like merit pay and evaluations from negotiations, but stopping short of eliminating all union bargaining.

1. These loonies see a "socialist" under every bed...
...which is understandable since they're backed by fascists.

They make the late Sen. McCarthy look like a moderate...

5. That was the proper response, lol...
For some reason, they don't spout off to me around here.. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm 6'3 & 270lbs, long haired and covered with tattoos? Yeah, I look like your typical Outlaw or Hell's Angel lol

It's about a 3 hour drive for me, I might make it one of these times, if it keeps up though.

7. So I shall ask, what is the difference between a teabagger
Edited on Wed Mar-23-11 08:00 PM by tnlefty
and your average southern republican? The only difference that I can see is that the teabaggers are louder and more in your face, but I've always viewed them as the foot soldiers of most elected southern republicans...i.e., in polite society you shun them.

Haslem will probably get them what they want, he'll just be quieter in the process.

10. "...the teabaggers are louder and more in your face"
Isn't that how it always works? Those with the least intelligent things to say usually say it the loudest.

Is this their defacto leader?

12. My husband and I have heard rumors that the baggers are
planning to run someone against Corker. Corker the lover of all things corporate, whom I've received nasty e-mails from...and just how in the hell did Lamar!! get tagged as a moderate anyway? The teabaggers are just noisy, pain in the ass repukes.

When I attended a fundraising dinner for my county party and Bart Gordon said out loud that repukes aren't such bad people...I just about vomited. Oh well, the party has done it to itself.
