When was the last time ANY country ever "declared war"?
And by that I mean a majority vote in whatever legislature or assembly to wage war on another country?

I can't remember the last time it happened. I thought it might be Britain against Argentina in 1982, but no. There was no vote.

6. I believe it was the Soviet Union against Japan in 1945

I'll try to look it up.

On edit: Nothing definitive, but the Straight Dope boards, back in 2001, came to the same conclusion :http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=91683

7. You've done some research, thanks
But from my memory, I came to the same conclusion. Nations simply don't declare war any more.

5. Times have changed. Nations don't seem to officially declare
wars any more. Today wars are sometimes called "police action."

Maybe the Constitution should be worded differently, just to
keep up with the times. :)
