Huffington Post will stand by Andrew Breitbart, despite criticsm
The Huffington Post is coming under mounting pressure from some on the left to stop giving Andrew Breitbart a front-page platform, with some wondering whether the granting of prime real estate to Breitbart signals that HuffPo is trying to broaden its ideological appeal in the wake of the AOL deal.

But according to a statement sent my way, HuffPo will stand by Breitbart and continue publishing him. HuffPo spokesperson Mario Ruiz emails:

From the beginning, The Huffington Post has welcomed voices from all sides of the political spectrum, including conservatives such as Newt Gingrich, Frank Luntz, Tom Coburn, Laura Ingraham, Bob Barr, George Pataki, David Frum, Byron York, Mary Matalin, and Ken Blackwell. The idea being that dialogue -- from a wide range of perspectives -- is preferable to silence. The fact that Andrew Breitbart’s first post on our site drew over 1,635 comments, conducted in a civil manner, seems to validate the premise and the decision to publish his blog post.

Color of Change has launched a petition calling on HuffPo to drop Breitbart, arguing that Breitbart is a “notorious liar and race baiter” who “poses as a journalist and then uses his position to gin up race-based fears, protect racists, and demonize Black political leaders and institutions.”

6. Ditto... he does not deserve any forum to spew his hate, lies and manipulation.
Honestly, I don't know what the rationale is behind this.

Yeah, I know $$$$... but still.

2. HUFFPO comments uses automatic slgorithms to screen out
any mildly negative comments that include the name Sarah Palin. I conducted an experiment a little while ago posting nothing really even mildly inflammatory, but that included the names Palin, Todd, and the phrase Palin family. No matter what content was included none of the three experimental comments were ever ultimately posted.

SO, I can not be surprised at this latest "kiss up." :eyes:

8. Hey!1 Ariana got her $. & the BREIT was her original partner. What's news?!1
Just clarifying here, the relationships:

1) BREIT was the original partner for Matt PUDGE.

2) BREIT is the son-in-law of (whassisname, will Edit)

3) When Ariana set up the HP, her original programmer/whatEVER was BREIT.

I'm not a tinfoiler, just connecting the dots among the hierarchy.

16. That's IT!1 But what's kincked me about Orsin was that he was supposed to be East-Lib
Back in the '60s when the MYTH of Lib media/whatever took root. There was Orsin and Kittey CARLYLE and the Random HOuse publisher dude and they were SO elegant and SO elite/high-class. AND they were supposed to be the epitome of the LIB.

So imagine my surprise when I found out that this BREITBART a-hole is the son-in-law of fucking Orsin BEAN. Is "bean" his real name?!1

Plus, "Liberalism" was supposed to be ALL new-yawk. So, Orsin lives (he's still alive) on the West coast.

Anyway.

10. Oh FFS, we don't dislike him for his political views....
We dislike him because he has absolutely NO journalistic integrity. He lies, posts ridiculous rumors, and hypes up videos he knows is heavily edited and outrageously distorted just because he needs the left to be his enemy at all costs.

12. Just stop reading huffpo.
I haven't viewed it once since the change, and have so many alternatives for news that I won't. HuffPost's value is readership.
