Let us check the goal posts!
President Obama promised Americans they will get good health care, check no, the corporations won. He promised to close Gitmo, check, that is on hold. He promised to look at Nafta, check, he sanctioned it!

What is this President doing? Please enlighten me and don't fucking tell me that he passed some shitty legislation. This President has done squat! Hope and change my ass!

There I said it, thank goodness our PM Chretien was in power when Bush and his cohorts decided to invade Iraq. The only reason why Canada is surviving is because of Chretien's foresight. If the minibush Harper was in power, we'd be in shit creek too!

What a shame with that hope and change shit!

10. When I read something like that and I feel like getting up and pacing.
Because I have no idea what one does in a situation where it appears that the political party one opposes is wholly-owned by the military industrial complex and the one that is favored, only three-quarters owned by them.

5. K&R
Don't forget the war crimes in Afghanistan, the targeting of civilians in Pakistan and now drones fighting the drug war in Mexico.

Somebody give that man a Nobel Peace Prize already!

I'm (sadly) being forced to become comfortable with the "hater" label being applied.

Obama is the best Republican president of the last 40 years. Nixon was more progressive in a lot of ways.

6. Bush was the bad cop,
Obama seems like the good cop. Both cops have the same goal. People can at least say, well he's better than having Bush or McCain, etc.

I have been saying that, if you check the promises and agenda of the campaigner against the actualities of the incumbent, they are like two, different people. Did they switch him out with a look alike?

I am used to it now and it opened my eyes as to the hows and whys of a titular head. The regime behind them matters and it seems that PR and giving people one name and face to identify with, pro or con, is very useful, maybe it is even a good distraction.

8. Me too!
I was already deeply in the rabbit hole, rooting around, (started when Dubya was installed) so I was seeing it that way already.

I feel very bad for those who are feeling let-down and dismayed. Some have broken hearts over the reality of this, even though they were once uplifted and hopeful and ready to move forward. The effect on morale is incredible and very depressing collectively.

So, the impact is deeper than just the more obvious problems and debacles we still see and face. The future looks a lot darker now for many, and that's not cynical, it is realistic.

11. Nothing feels much worse than a great opportunity lost, ey?
Well, we could play enablers and consider the possibility that he can only do what he is allowed to? There may be many factors their concerning whose influence controls what.

Perhaps attributing more power to a titular head than they actually have is our mistake. We all know that when it came to major policies and decisions, Dubya was just a fool on a hill, though ruthless and cunning, nonetheless.

12. I have to differ with you, President Obama squandered his political
clout when he got elected. An opportunity lost can never be regained. He fucked up with the bipartisan shit!

17. The Left goalposts have been moved beyond the horizon
Obama now says the middle is about 5 feet to the left of the Repub goalposts.

That's where his focus is these days.

20. We have our own problems as well! However, thanks to Chretrien, we are surviving,
we did not joing bush in his invasion of Iraq, that is the big difference why Canada stayed afloat inspite of the recession. If we had gone into Iraq, we would be the same as the US!

21. Everybody did, we here in Canada were happy beyond words and then
the shit hit the fan with Warren at the inauguration and then everything went downhill from there. Fuck bipartisan, those fuckers do not work with Dems and even some Dems vote with Repulicans.

I am disgusted!

A community organiser is not president material, sorry!
