14. Almost only counts in horseshoes
and nuclear war. :-)

It is not so easy for someone to get all the way out from the Wai'anae side or North Shore to the Territorial Building. On the Neighbor Islands, it's even tougher.

6. These measures are designed to disenfranchise voters.
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 12:13 AM by Wilms
The people most likely to lack a photo ID are non-drivers, the disabled, the poor, the elderly. And guess what? These are the same people unlikely to vote for the vampire party.

Republicans have been pushing this for awhile. The abysmal performance of the Democrats between 2010-2012 left many so uninspired to vote that the low turn-out, which tends to favor vampires, helped turnover not only Congress, but state houses. We're all blood donors now.

7. Fear of vote fraud is the reddest of herrings.
Republicans know that the # of fraudulent 2nd votes is .00000001% of actual votes cast (if that). It just doesn't happen. But vote caging and systematic elimination of eligible voters does (guess which party?). Republicans use the non-existent abuse to create structural hurdles to prevent entire classes of people from voting. No shocker why. Their politics of division and agenda to screw the middle-class is motivating more and more people to vote against them. What's the Anti-social Party to do? They aren't about to trade their ideology for a populist agenda any time soon. So, the answer is simple...enact legislation where they control the voting rules and eligibility. When that fails, just fix the computer generated election results.

15. "Fear of vote fraud is the reddest of herrings" - "When that fails, just fix the computer generated
election results".

These two sentences argue with each other. You might want to consider fixing that.

18. Not sure how to fix.
"Fear of vote fraud is the reddest of herrings" - that's the Republican mantra as to why they need to monkey around with election laws.

"When that fails, just fix the computer generated election results" - Is the bottom line option to make sure they get the results they want.

16. Took 'em a while to get up the nerve for such a direct assault on voting rights.
We know who they're after, and why.

It's not about double voting.

2. My state charges for a driver's license
and, as far as I know, they also charge for a non-license ID. So requiring a photo ID is tantamount to a poll tax.

8. This is idiotic.
We required a photo ID anyway OR a Voter's card (which doesn't have a photo) OR a bill to your house. I think they may have turned away from that last one an election or so ago, I can't recall right now. But I never cared for this Photo I.D. bill, because I knew it was the Republicans way of screwing with elections.

So what am I supposed to do when I'm told to not let someone vote if they don't look EXACTLY like their picture? If I'm Republican (*shudders*), do I get to throw down and arrest them? Can I do it Wyatt Earp style or do I HAVE to do it like Chuck Norris? I suppose since I'm a Democrat, there's an amendment in that bill that forces me to burn a flag and help them vote illegally, then write Fox News a confession and denounce my friends and family while kissing Sarah Palin's ring.

God, I hate living in Texas sometimes.
