Did anyone see earlier the bubble-headed teleprompter reader on CNN show
an image of smoke/steam rising from one the reactors at Fukushima? Essentially it was a don't worry blurb. Paraphrasing: "Steam was seen rising from one of the reactor's at Japan's damaged Fukushima nuclear plant today. The government issued a statement explaining that 'the steam is a natural occurrence' and that no one should be alarmed."

Since when is steam from an shaken, drowned, and exploded nuclear reactor a "natural occurrence"?

2. Since when? Since always...Natural but not normal.
This is not to say that this radioactive steam is good but, get used to it. There are much worse possibilities from Fukushima.

3. I guess either you had to be there or I'm seeing absurdity where none is justified.
It just seemed the sort of blurb that attempts to minimize and make benign a situation that is levels above the benign.

4. I agree about the bubble-headed teleprompter readers...unwatchable.
Seems like the steam comment was from the Japanese government. They are in full 'don't panic' mode, understandably with 20 million people in Tokyo/Yokohama watching.

5. They have a point - which is more dangerous?
A few hundred, or thousand, people getting radiation sickness or radiation related illnesses, or 20 million people in full panic/flight mode?
