The Japanese Nuclear Power Crisis Deepens
http://blogs.forbes.com/oshadavidson/2011/03/24/the-japanese-nuclear-power-crisis-deepens/

4. Black smoke coming from Reactor No. 3 forced an evacuation of emergency workers from FDI yesterday. Early Thursday morning (local time) a news helicopter filmed steam coming from Reactors No. 1, 2, 3 and 4. The sources of the steam are not known.

The Japanese government and nuclear advocates both in Japan and in the United States have been warning against panic since the disaster started on March 11th.

They don’t mention that panic has a flip-side, and it is just at lethal: complacency.

Alarmed? Good. You should be.

1. I didn't realize that there was nothing between

panic and complacency. Someone's been watching too much American news.

3. oh, definitely
At least I heard an interview with an American woman who was off site in Japan, but helping with strategy. I think there is a big contingent of American nuclear experts there. I could describe her demeanor a few days ago as sober and determined.
