Bobbie Kennedy Jr.
On Humankind, on NPR. He did a great job. Don't miss the program. It is available, I think, on the NPR website.

1. How was his speaking?
The reason I ask is that I know he suffers from spasmodic dysphonia, a condition, aggravated by stress, that causes one's voice to sound as if the words are being strangulated and the resulting speech sounding very choppy at times. I can relate, as I suffer from it as well. I suspect it's part of the reason he hasn't maintained a high political profile.

2. Oh, please.
Robert maintains a high profile. It's not "political," because he is not a politician. But he is the most high-profile environmental advocate in the nation.

3. I just meant that...
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 06:23 PM by markpkessinger
...he has taken a role whereby he doesn't have to do a huge amount of public speaking. As someone who lives with the same condition, I was simply inquiring about how he was faring with it. I wasn't making an exhaustive analysis about his relative degree of activism. But don't let that stop you from jumping down somebody's throat. Jeesh.

He spoke in a theater up the street from me recently. He does lots of public speaking.

7. Fair enough...
But he does suffer from spasmodic dysphonia. (See http://dragonballyee.blogs.com/philly/2005/04/robert_f_kenned.html )I was merely trying to inquire about how he was doing with it. It was never my intention to get into a debate about where or how much he speaks or his relative degree of political activism. As one who also lives with the condition, I can tell you it can be really socially debilitating.

12. Thank you, Mark.
They both speak far more clearly than their raving wingnut counterparts.

5. He really speaks in such a way to draw you into his way of looking at the
issues concerning our shared environment.

I am really glad he is staying out of the political arena because we all know that as soon as you start running for office, your views start to become compromised and geared toward holding on to power.
