Texas Officer in Critical Condition After Cow Attack
http://www.policeone.com/bizarre/articles/3464655-Texas-officer-critical-after-cow-attack/
-----------------------------
BULLARD, Texas — A deputy in Texas is in critical condition after a cow attacked him while he was directing traffic.

Deputy Robert Britton of Tyler, Texas had responded to a call in which a vehicle had struck a cow. The 54-year-old deputy was directing traffic when the cow charged him.

His body was launched into the air and he landed on his head.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the animal “continued to assault” him while he was lying on the pavement.

Other deputies came to his rescue and took him to intensive care.

The cow has been put to sleep, according to the Houston Chronicle. Police are seeking the owner.

4. injured cattle are very dangerous
and they are NEVER grateful for assistance, even if you save their freaking lives. They are big and fast, hope the guy is alright - even without horns a cow can mash you bad - potential internal injuries.

5. Most injured animals are very dangerous, panic sets in and they lash
out...can be deadly when the animal is three times the size of a human. I wish the guy well.

6. Enough to cow me, and that's no bull.
Better investigate the cow's background -- she may have been a Mooist.

7. Not surprising. Cows, while mostly dumb critters, are still big powerful slabs of muscle.
And with all the hormones people pump into their beef these days, it's continuing attack on the officer may well be a function of roid rage. On the other hoof, it may just be a normal thing for an angry animal to do.

13. they aren't dumb
and nobody gives cows (adult females) hormones

they will panic and attack anything perceived as a threat if they can't get away, but mostly they want to escape

(I know you are just joking around, but I can't help myself)

25. Just because the poster seems a little stewed doesn't mean she has a personal beef here.
Sad news like this could bring us all of us down to ground. It's hard to keep up an A-1 attitude with so much tragedy to ruminate about.

29. Ah, I see. Just an aside: my Uncle owned cattle, and when I was about six or seven
he explained to me at some family get-together that cattle were a great animal to work with because of the all the great things they gave us - "like milk. Girl cows give dairy farmers the milk we drink."

"What do boy cows give us?" I said.

"Uhhh, they give us, uhhh, they give us calf fries!" he replied, caught a little bit off guard, and not wanting to explain the whole we-butcher-them-for-hamburgers thing to his six year old nephew.

"Like french fries?!?" I said.

"Just like 'em!" he replied.

A couple of older (teenage) cousins of mine waited until much later in the day when no grownups were around to bring me up to speed on what was really being "fried" when you ordered up a mess of "calf fries".... :wow:

That there - much more than the inevitable realization that there was no such creature as Santa Claus - was a serious growin' up moment.

19. It says the cows "came" home. Not that they were at home.
The question is, when did the cows come home? After a particularly brutal attack, maybe?
