Joan Baez in Tribute to Cindy Sheehan.."Where Have All the Flowers Gone"
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 08:39 PM by KoKo
She sung this because Cindy Sheehan exposed Bush...when she "camped in that ditch" after "9/11" when All of America was Obsessed with BUSH and IRAQ INVASION!

Here's Joan Baez...who stepped up in support:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKvdPsnkPC0

Some would like to trash Sheehan and make little of the loss of her son, Casey and how she actually STARTED the NEW ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT!

I will tell you that Cindy Sheehan camped out in that Ditch outside of Bush II's Hideyhole in Crawford, Texas was the START OF A BIG MOVEMENT...that will GO ON AND ON...even with STOPS and PUSH BACK BY RW ..BIG INTERESTS...what CINDY STARTED in THAT DITCH...will be written about in years gone forward.

So listen and think about what was STARTED in the 1960's and RE-VISIT...because it wasn't finished and we now have a chance to do what we couldn't do before!

This Video is Popular ...over 1 Million 500 Views...and it's slow to load..

3. Well, Joan Baez is a notorious headline hunter and drama queen.
The only thing that's been a worse flop than the organization of nonviolence has been the organization of violence.
Joan Baez

If it's natural to kill, how come men have to go into training to learn how?
Joan Baez

5. She and Cindy are troublemakers who dare to speak out against war.
Just silly women who are willing to go to jail, repeatedly, to stop the killing.

SO, DO WE Have our OWN RIGHTS. Been fighting with them for hundreds, and maybe thousands, of years. What ever changes?

13. Yes yes...
That really sums it up doesn't it. If you call Sheehan out as the embarrassment that she is you must be making "little of the loss of her son"

Idiots... both of em...

Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 09:35 PM by KoKo
That Sheehan is an Embarrassment...

Then to weave it into the loss of her Son who Died in the Military Service to His Country...

Did you serve? Where? If you did serve, and died...how do you think your Mother, Step Mother or close relatives ...if you don't have a Mother, Step-Mother (that you could relate to) would feel on your death?

I apologize if I Mis-Read your post. We get so much snark and jibes here on DU these days...I might have not gotten that you were doing sarcasm.

If so, i apologize...really. :-( My Bad...

I really do think Sheehan is an embarrassment and also there is a good chance that her son would grieve at what she has become. (Before you start, no I don't know for sure what his ghost would say other than what I have read about him and my job as a leader of Soldiers)

To answer your questions...

1) Yes I served
2) All over
3) I told my mother that if I did get blown up and she turned into anything even remotely resembling Cindy Sheehan I would return just to haunt her. I know exactly what the dangers are in my line of work and I accepted them by choice.

19. Cid_B...I have to take you post as "anecdotal" because Cindy is "Fact"...but appreciate your view
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 09:41 PM by KoKo
...even though I really still don't understand what your complaint with Sheehan is that you would have requested such a thing of your own mother.

But...whatever... We all have our "things."

Edited for horrible typo's ...posting on the run.

24. Is this loud-mouthed Gold Star Mother an embarrassment
as in an embarrassment of riches from the spoils of war?

Or an embarrassment to the glory and camaraderie of the masculine God of War which has not much place for the feminine lamentation and its righteous anger when provoked?

18. Joan Baez has always been such a beautiful woman-- physically and in spirt.
Back in the 60s I used to play her records over and over and over until my mother threatened to break them. ^_^

One of my sheroes.

21. Thank you for posting this link.
Joan Baez has been singing this song for close to 50 years now, and I've been listening to her sing it for close to 50 years...and somehow, that doesn't make me feel old!

War gets pretty old, though.

22. Joan and her causes have been so much part of all our lives
I was fortunate to meet her, and her lovely sisters Mimi, and Pauline, and her dynamic parents in Carmel back in 1965

Such real nice people.

(Thanks, KoKo, for posting this)

23. Cindy stood up to the war-monger lying president and asked why
her son died, what was the great cause to sacrifice the children for? When no one else could.

And no one, however red-white-and-blue or chicken-hawkish, could speak ill of a questioning, grieving parent. And then the war-monger profiteers did, to their everlasting shame and special place in hell. She ripped the Emperor's clothes off and exposed the ugly underbelly of war for profit. But some are still hysterically blind and will not see the obvious.

Joan Baez is a wonder. Saw her in a small canyon packed with people in Golden Gate park in 2005 letting Bush have it and singing It's A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall. With my own tears falling in the awesome beauty of the spectacular did I cry smiling at her.
