Rest-in-Peace, my Brother-in-Law, Mike! We all grew up together. |
|
Mike was a patriarch of the younger-generation in my Family.
We all grew up together, between Topeka, Lawrence, and K.C. and elsewhere -s . . .
Neglected his health too long.
Mike . . . . !
Everyone is very sad.

8. Thank you wtmusic. Mike was a hell-raiser in his time, but also a natural born leader, one |
|
of those guys who everyone naturally turns to without his even trying to take that kind of authority.
He loved the practice of law, worked extremely hard and died at the peak of his own very successful practice.
Lots of people miss him . . .

Mike's wonderful mother was a Probation Officer, liberal to the bone both of them despite the fact that they both say Criminal Justice and criminals up close and personal.

Mike was like "the ghost of Christmas Present" every day to his grandchildren and not just with gifts, but more with his generosity of heart and mind, so they're great little people, because their moms & dads have their heads on straight too. The grandchildren will miss Mike sorely and their parents will help them by telling/showing them how many people respected their grandfather. Mike was an atheist and the family, while not anti-religion, is sort of a-religious, so the value of Mike's life is seen in the number of people he really helped.

11. Thank you, LiberalAndProud. I needed that hug! |

We partied pretty hard as a family when all of us were younger. To see someone who was there through the thick and the thin and someone who then went through lots of the same crazy stuff with his own children and, for the most part, most of us came out of it alive and well and we are all looking forward to growing old together, but then . . .

With most of our parents' generation gone from our family now, this will change us substantially.

14. Thank you, joeybee12. Mike contributed significantly to the ethical foundations of his community |
|
through his law practice. He made a difference for lots of people and to his colleagues. He was very very smart AND funny and diligent in his pursuit of the legal process. Everyone loved Mike.

16. One of the things I always saw Mike enjoy the most over the years was helping women who were on the |
|
edge of losing it all. His office staff LOVE him.
