Colombo digs grave for Tamil harmony

The Sri Lankan government's triumphalism following its victory over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has reached a new high. The new military headquarters of the army's 51st Division that was inaugurated at Kopay near Jaffna this month "has been built on the site of a Tamil Tiger graveyard earlier flattened by the army", the BBC has reported.

The destruction of the LTTE graves in 2010 by the Sri Lankan army left Tamils "deeply hurt", a Tamil teacher based in Jaffna, who spoke to Asia Times on condition of anonymity, said. "Our sons and daughters, who fell defending the Tamil homeland, lie here. This was their final resting place and the army desecrated it."

And now the government has added insult to injury.

"harmony"? they surely jest

but then again - didn't our men do the same to the Native Americans?

Lynn Baggett, 51, allegedly heated a five-gallon pot containing water and an unknown substance on a stove after offering to fix dinner for the victim, who was lying on a couch in her apartment on the 1500 block of North Clybourn Avenue on Saturday, according to a police report.

When the water came to a boil, Baggett took the pot off the stove, walked over to the victim and poured the boiling liquid over her head, according to the report.

The victim suffered burns to the face, forehead, scalp, neck, back and shoulders, according to the report. She was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition at about 7:30 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado.

Damn those cruel, childish men!!!!!
