And the TEABAGGER GOES DOWN....

Nothing works better to force a radical out of office than using their own words against them. The right wing is very organized in this area and it has shifted politics in America. I think the left finally has had some wins lately with using public opinion to sway politics. Quite a few Teabaggers have had to resign recently because the general population has demanded they step down. I offer these examples:

Rep. Martin Harty NH said the disabled should be sent to Siberia to freeze and die. RESIGNED after public outrage prompted massive calls, letters and emails.

Carlos Lam, a deputy prosecutor in Ind., sent email encouraging Gov. Scott Walker to fake an attack against himself. RESIGNED

State prosecutor, Jeffrey Cox, tweeted they should use live ammunition on Wisconsin protesters. RESIGNED

Joyce Kaufman, Allen West's named Chief of Staff, RESIGNED after the backlash to her calls of violence.

OUR LETTERS, EMAILS and PHONE CALLS REALLY DO MATTER!!

I think we should make sure that letters, emails and phone calls continue to be sent to Tea Baggers when they go too far. If you have some suggestions of others who need to hear from us then add their contact info and we can drop them a message. How about this for a start: (google their names and their stories pop right up so you can fact check)

Florida Republican Kathleen Passidomo blamed an 11 year old girl and her family for her rape by 18 males. Here is her contact info:

1. I like your thinking
Yes writing letters does help. Here is another possible way to energize such a movement. I just read this story from another post on DU and it clicked.

Read the article and you will see that they have used Facebook as a way of gathering momentum to achieve a goal.

54. that could work for limbaugh too if LOCAL sponsors of radio stations were
boycotted. the radio is why fox TV even exists.

the stations that play limbaugh and hannity and the other main sellers of the GOP/teabag/corporate propaganda depend on those sponsors for overhead and they need to be called and asked WTF?

and 15 of the final 16 NCAA basketball unis broadcast sports on limbaugh stations- WTF? they do anti-science global warming denial all day long, along with the racism, sexism, homophobia etc.

4. I put it on the Activists HQ thread.
REALLY great idea to expand this kind of campaign to Facebook as well.

The FIRST most-important-thing about this is to empower people, and let everyone know they are NOT helpless against this kind of shit. There IS something they can do about it. And if enough of them DO get off their ass and make the attempt, good things CAN INDEED come from it.

You CAN make a difference. Yes You CAN!

state legislator Virgil Peck (R, of course) resign after suggesting that the illegal immigrant problem should be solved by shooting immigrants from helicopters. He spit out a sort of apology a couple of days after making the remark, though the day after makin it, he was defiant.

The Republican leaders in the legislature have said they have accepted his apology and don't think anything else needs to be done, but since they were not the ones who were offended by his remark, I don't see why they should think it is their place to accept his apology and to decide that it solves the problem his comment created!

8. Thanks! I called all the numbers given
and let them all know these people are not fit for public office and should resign immediately. I'm sorry you didn't post Dean Cannon's number, I would have loved to have called his office. I was polite to all. Passidomo's office was stunned to hear my thoughts and probably needs LOTS of phone calls. Notter's office was happy I called, Murray's office, not so much. That person sounded beleaguered and upping the call ratio would be really good for the pressure points. Virgil Peck had voice mail. I told him God didn't love his words or actions (He had God blessing me at the end of his folksy message.) I told him the people of his state didn't love his actions and to resign, that he wasn't fit for public office.

but my arthritis keeps me from that activity. I find calling to be effective if you can't hand write. I don't leave messages, but talk to a human being. I know that at least some one had the words go into their brain. They may hate me, but I think they say something to their co workers.

All of the members of the School Board are Democrats. I'm not sure why you included the number for the Superintendent, as he works for Murray, not the other way around. You may want to post the numbers of the other members of the board to ask them to remove her as Vice-Chair. I live in Murray's district, and have written to her asking for her resignation from office. I have also contacted both of the at-large members of the board requesting they remove her as Vice-Chair.

It's well after 5 pm so I'm not surprised. I will try again on Monday morning. I'm sick of this crap. These people say and do DREADFUL things and the baggers let it slide. They twist the words of progressives or even centrists and get them in trouble.

31. Here's another suggestion -
A lot of us have smart phones.
Some of these smart phones have camera and recording capabilities.
When we visit a Teabagger, we should always have a recording device
so we can use their exact words against them.

The phone camera and recorder are perfect, because it appears to be
just a phone, and they are more relaxed around them. When they see
an actual camera, they parse their words more carefully.

Just my suggestion.

56. Some states have privacy laws...
Some states allow for recording audio if ONE party knows they're being recorded.
Other states allow for recording audio ONLY IF BOTH PARTIES know they're being recordd.
Hence the frequent automated message about recording for quality assurance purposes (bullpatties, it's to cover their own butts) one gets when calling a business.

The states that require both parties knowledge, the recording party can verbally state that this session is being recorded (no reason needs to be given)...

32. Thank You Very Much For Pointing This Out! I'm Feeling Quite Desperate
down here in Florida and wake up each day wondering "what next?" We are natives of this state, but this state has been so screwed up for so long that there are times I don't want to admit it.

I really do like living here for many other reasons, but I wonder all the time if we will survive the slaughtering of our rights. I know the politics have been so raw here for so long, but it just seems to get worse as times goes by. Didn't seem it could have been possible, but truth be told it DOES seem that it WILL get even worse than I ever imagined!

Thanks again, I'm saving this and perhaps there will be more of this "foot in my mouth" happenings. THEY MUST GO! But I just read a post about Cuomo and what he's doing in NY and he's a Democrat, so this MUST apply to ALL politicians who work to subvert the rights of "we the people!"

IT REALLY MUST STOP, we are still losing the battle so even little victories feel good.

... about the economic Republican-created economic disaster we are living through right now, when people are hungry and or scared, they start PAYING ATTENTION and ACTING.

The Republicans think they can just continue from the same playbook, cut taxes (mostly on the rich) and deregulate, but more and more people see that for the UTTER AND COMPLETE SCAM that it is.

53. imagine how much could be done along these lines if we had 1000 radio stations and lied
all the time and were coordinated and whose liars were protected by call screeners and the americans whose ideals they attack 24/7 ignore them thinking the internet will save them and it's a headache to listen to anyway!

if it wasn't for some truth and common sense and luck in media and some remaining free speech we wouldn't have ANY democracy left.

57. Here in Tennessee, Senator Bill Ketron is distinguishing himself from the other flying monkeys ...
Edited on Sat Mar-26-11 09:55 AM by Fly by night
... by sponsoring bills against freedom of religion and against verifiable voting AND for proposing that Tennessee issue its own currency (in case, you know, the South decides to rise again).

Around here, the overly-bouffanted fart-face is called "Hair spray". It appears that, in addition to lacquering his head with the stuff, he is huffing it too.

Please give "Hair spray" my best when you drop him a line:

59. How about posting SAMPLES of letters and phone scripts?
And come up with TEMPLATES of each???

Those who have written, please post copies of your letters (remember to remove your personal contact information first).
Those who have made phone calls, please post what you remember of your speech...

From those, we can take the best parts of the letters and put together a generic version with fill-in-blanks... this makes sure that specific, important points are put across AND templates are great time-savers, encouraging more people to follow-through with letters and/or phone calls...

For the most part, the letter template and the phone script template could be very similar (if not identical)...

Example of phone script template:

Hello, my name is __________________________________________________. I am a resident of ___________{city name}_________ in ______________________ County in the great state of _________________________. I am calling your office to request that ________{politician's name}________ do the right thing and resign for the recent comments made regarding _________{list specifics}_______________. I find remarks to be totally out-of-line and out-of-touch with reality AND I AM OUTRAGED at total lack of remorse for such hateful, hate-filled remarks, especially in this day-and-age when so many of our neighbors and friends are struggling....

Well, you get my gist...

Some say it does not matter if they protest and call, but this is proof that it does work!

83. People in govt. sure seem to make sure they have lots of those types of parachutes
If I had my way...if you quit under a shameful situation or were committed of a crime unbefitting of your office you should have to forfeit all those people paid benefits. If you hurt your fellow Americans, why should they pay you extra benefits the rest of your life?
