Canada announes to support gay refugee committee
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced that the Canadian government will work with the Rainbow Refugee Committee to support oversea refugees who are maltreated for being gay. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will donate $10,000 to cover three months of income support and refugee needs when they arrive to Canada, according to the Toronto Star.

“These funds are a welcome first step in response to the crisis facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people around the globe at a time when 77 countries continue to criminalize homosexuality and fiver prescribe the death penalty,” executive director of Egale Canada Helen Kennedy said in The Star.

3. There is a federal election and the neocons are furriously trying to
get a majority. To do that they have to have a breakthrough in cities. So they did this to try and 'make nice' with the gays. And they gave some money to the public broadcaster, the CBC. Someone did a poll that said that the conservatives are the least trusted party with 41% of the people not trusting them at all. They've obviously told their social conservative base to be quiet in the interests of them getting a majority. :scared:
