Alaska governor’s pick for key post wants to criminalize adultery, premarital sex
Republican Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell's nominee for the Alaska Judiciary Council would like to see Alaskans prosecuted for having sex outside marriage.

In telephone testimony, Don Haase of Valdez told the state Senate Judiciary Committee that premarital sex should be outlawed because it could "cause violence" and "spread disease," according to The Anchorage Daily News.

Haase admitted to the committee that he had failed to disclose that he had been president of Eagle Forum Alaska, a blog that advocates for conservative principles.

Members of the committee noted that one blog post at the website called for the criminalization of adultery.

4. More blatant Republican hypocrisy!
They campaign on less government intrusion into their lives and then they advocate the most humanly invasive laws imaginable. They pass bans against Sharia Law fearing the institution of extremet Muslim religious principles; but they advocate the passage of extreme Judeo-Christian religious principles.

They truly are banking on the stupidity of Americans.

18. What's intrusive about it?
They could simply forbid each unmarried man from being in public unless accompanied by an adult woman who is a relative of the given unmarried man.

11. actually, only those taken over by Dominionists >Link> but the Dark Side is insidiously creeping
into all aspects of everyday life. Dominionism has become Shadow Government, it controls the purse strings of the GOP, electing its own over competent candidates. they are often easy to recognize, they are usually poorly if at all educated, they have frequently never held a real job, and they can whip up a crowd as good as Hitler. the comparison is not casual. today's Dominionism was started by a Nazi Refugee here in 1934, Abraham Vereide. Doug Coe of the C street Fellowship, who call themselves the "Christian Mafia", was Abraham Vereide's Protege.

this site is very informative on dominionism

19. All hilarity aside . . .
Didn't some states have laws like this in the past, which were struck down on Constitutional grounds?

21. Adultery is already a crime in about 1/2 of the states. In MI, the (potential)
penalty is up to life in prison. In MD, it is a misdemeanor with a max $10 fine. In MD, the biggest "benefit" of the fact that it is a crime is one can plead the 5th rather than have to answer detailed questions on the record and in open Court concerning the affair.

Also, UCMJ penalties for adultery are up to court martial.
