I'm not going to resign you can't make me nane nane boo boo ...IOIYAR mr peckerhead
March 25, 2011

Advocacy groups have presented petitions to two state officials demanding that a Kansas legislator resign over a remark he made about illegal immigration.

Representatives of the groups said Friday that 58,000 people
signed their petitions over the Internet. The groups included the
Latino Information Network of Kansas and Presente.org.

They're protesting the remark made by state Rep. Virgil Peck
during a committee meeting, suggesting that illegal immigrants
could be shot from helicopters like feral hogs. He said it was a
joke but later apologized, calling the remark regrettable.

The groups say the apology is insufficient.

The presented their petitions to the offices of Gov. Sam
Brownback and House Speaker Mike O'Neal, demanding they call on
Peck to resign.

1. sources say he won't resign

Local and national human rights groups gathered more than 55,000 signatures on an online petition calling for state Rep. Virgil Peck, R-Tyro, to resign for “joking” that illegal immigrants could be shot from helicopters like feral pigs. The groups delivered the petitions today to Gov. Sam Brownback and House Speaker Mike O’Neal, R-Hutchinson. But Peck has refused to resign, and House GOP leaders are refusing to discuss the matter.
