Just another Reminder: 81% of Americans want to tax the rich to end the deficit.

If we can afford another war, we can afford all our social spending.

Until we start taxing the rich, spending cuts should be off the table.

Once we start taxing the hoarders, we can talk about cutting off the heat for grandma Millie.

"The most popular: placing a surtax on federal income taxes for those who make more than $1 million per year (81 percent said that was acceptable), eliminating spending on earmarks (78 percent), eliminating funding for weapons systems the Defense Department says aren’t necessary (76 percent) and eliminating tax credits for the oil and gas industries (74 percent). 4. They voted Republican because Dems didn't give them
a strong enough alternative. Was it Truman who said, "Given the choice between a Republican and a Democrat that ACTS like a Republican, the public will choose the REAL thing every time."

If the Dems want these votes, they've GOT TO ACT LIKE THEY WANT THESE VOTES. And the only way to do that is to STRONGLY support these positions. That's loudly and often. Even if we can't actually get these positions enacted right now, at least the public will KNOW what we support and MAYBE vote accordingly next time.
