Okla firefighter union won't pull criticized ad

A firefighter union in Oklahoma says it has no plans to pull a television ad that a state senator described as "horrific and tasteless" for including images of the Oklahoma City bombing aftermath.

Professional Fire Fighters of Oklahoma President Rick Beams said Friday the ad began airing this week to bring attention to a Republican-sponsored bill that changes how contract disputes are handled between cities and uniformed personnel like police and firefighters.

Beams says the ad simply features images of the kind of work firefighters do, like responding to emergencies.

4. The hell with the senator--firefighters have to face horrific situations in their jobs

and risk cancer and other problems later because of all the chemicals they inhale in the smoke. They deserve whatever we can afford to pay them.
