The unbelievable and the incredible. Consecutive posts on the jsonline site.
Amazing posts in succession this morning on the Milwaukee Journal / Sentinel web site. One blogger "gets it" and one blogger has a disdain for the working class that goes into the realms of mental illness.

This from May Day:

So, all you Walker fans, Tea Party supporters, and Republicans. Tell me how far back in history do you want to go with this anti-union drive? Sixty years back to the 1950's? Those are considered the good old days by many (you know, before civil rights and all). But unions were much stronger back then than they are now, in fact membership peaked in the 1950's (not so coincidentally this was also when there was a boom in the middle class and suburbia). Eighty years, back to the 1930's? Unions then were far more radical than today, many led by real communists. How about 110 years back, the 1900's? That was the heyday of the Industrial Workers of the World, led by real anarchists and syndicalists. No it sounds like you want to go back 160 years to the 1840's, you know back to the time of Charles Dickens and the Christmas Carol, when clerk Bob Cratchit had to beg his employer Ebenezer Scrooge for just one day off of work, Christmas. To which he replied "It's a poor excuse to pick a man's pocket every December the twenty-fifth". This play isn't just a made up fairy tale, it is what life was like before unions, before holidays, weekends, vacations, sick leave, minimum wages, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, health and safety inspections, and all the things many take for granted today. These weren't just given to workers by benevolent employers. Workers and their unions fought and died for these. Workers lives were horrible before unions, and could be again in our race to the bottom.

Immediately followed by this from SuAnn 8369

There always was and always will be a middle class; the makeup will change. Public servants have no business being in the middle class. They are generally hired under the political patronage system because they can not get a decent job in the private sector due to various reasons. Unionization then allows these unqualified individuals to get paid as if they are qualified though costing you and me extra to pay for second rate service. Just go to the DMV sometime and reaalize that these people are unionized against us, the taxpayer. They are lower class and deserve to be paid as such.

3. Yep. Their minds can easily be changed....
...as soon as THEY suffer some personal tragedy. Otherwise, count SueAnn among the "willfully ignorant".

4. into the realms of mental illness...
I see a person arguing with the knowledge base of Sarah Palin and the enthusiasm of Glenn Beck, but I don't see a clear case of mental illness.

Since you have the skill and understanding it takes to make such a diagnosis, perhaps you could direct me to the DSM-IVR code whose symptoms you think are manifest?

Or maybe that was just an ad hominem and you didn't want to do that as obviously as calling the person an ignorant hyperbolizing bigot.

7. I will never understand
the 'we taxpayers' bs. So all these public servants that work hard to support themselves and their families don't pay taxes. I've gotten to the point that everytime I see or hear some rightwinger say 'we taxpayers' what I really see or here is 'we self-centered, greedy bastards'.

12. Uh.... SuAnn the worldl did not begin when you were born.
The middle class didn't exist until well after the feudal era...

So in recorded history (and almost certainly, in ALL of human history)we've only had a "middle class" for, at most, 500 years. And that's stretching the definition of middle class a lot.

My husband took a public service job (with the county code enforcement) and he took a pay cut to go along with it. What he got in exchange was ostensibly greater job security.

What you are suggesting is that we run the best and brightest out of the public sector work force.... Do you really want the equivalent of burger flippers running your government?

Dumbass.

14. Yeah, we already had that during the Bush administration
cause we know if Bush hadn't been born rich and connected he probably would have had a hard time holding down a job at McDonald's.
